Godspeed,

God, not religion, is central to our future. Because of this the idea of atheism first needs to be clarified and then put aside: it is unsupportable and will eventually have little relevance. The philosophical side of the atheist’s statement of disbelief in God is more correctly put as disbelief in God as presented by the world’s religions and portrayed in the lives of their members. Given the hypocrisy, contradictions, and unmitigated horror associated with the world’s religions what sane person can argue for God’s existence based on religious dogma without in the end simply reverting to one of the many “just because” stories. The religions dominating the planet today, without exception, have not only failed to elevate the dignity, integrity, and welfare of humanity they have done much to reduce us to our present level of depravity—a level so low that it should be unimaginable to even the most barbaric among us instead of being our accepted everyday existence.
But once the true nature of God our father is known and the evolutionary process of material worlds is understood, most people then validate the truth of God’s existence through their own unique experiences interacting with the actual entity of God resident in their mind. Knowing God’s existence is not based on deductive reasoning, but rather on your personal experience with God and only you can validate the truth of that experience: no one else can enter the process even if you so desired that they do so. You, in your heart, must decide the truth or not of God. Knowing God in this way, through actual experience, is true religion as opposed to the social groups of people believing the same way that are now formed around the world’s faiths.
On the pseudo-scientific side arguing for atheism are those people claiming to be both atheists and scientists who base their disbelief in God on their belief that consciousness cannot exist without a physical correlate, in other words, no brain no consciousness hence no soul. Even though science cannot prove that consciousness cannot exist without a brain, they believe that eventually it will. The problems here are that a belief is a philosophical statement of reality, where the scientific method is a process absent of belief and dependent on observation, experimentation, and the commitment to follow the evidence where ever it leads. Regarding whether or not consciousness can exist without a brain, there are innumerable documented cases of near-death experiences by medical doctors showing what does appear to be consciousness after the death of the material brain that supposedly produced it. At this point in humanity’s knowledge the most any true scientist can say on the subject of God’s existence is “I do not know.” From there that scientist then has every right to develop his own personal belief system and internal relationship with God without compromising his scientific integrity or being ostracized by the scientific community.
Both cases above are different than those people who cannot know God. Not everyone is born with a mind capable of making a decision based on truth, beauty, or goodness: this is obvious in today’s world. These people do not receive an entity from God to reside in their minds—they are the people who have committed some of humanity’s most horrific atrocities, and they are viewed by the rest of the celestial host in the universe as animals of that world with no potential for developing an eternal soul. When Jesus was asked by a friend if he would defend himself if attacked, it was this type of person to which Jesus referred when he answered that he would, and…

The Balance Between Worship and Service
Excerpt: Chap. 22, Going Through Samaria
Son of Man: Urantia, 2nd ed.
And organized religion is the attempt to socialize those people into worshiping together. He explained that worship, the contemplation of God, has to be alternated with service, actually dealing with the material world. Just like work needs to be balanced with play, religion needs to be balanced with humor, and deep philosophical matters need to be relieved with poetry.

Nauda's Forgiveness and Transformation
Excerpt: Chap. 22, Going Through Samaria
Son of Man: Urantia, 2nd ed.
Jesus could tell that Nauda's life was more from having been sinned against than having sinned herself. He saw that she sincerely wanted salvation, and that was enough. But just as she was about to tell this to Jesus, the apostles returned. To say the least, they were stunned to see Jesus talking to a young, pretty Samaritan woman. But they held their peace and said nothing. They did not have the courage to challenge Jesus. Instead, they stowed the supplies from town and went off a short distance to wait. While the apostles were busying themselves, Jesus said to Nauda, Woman, go your way. God has forgiven you. From here on out, you will live a new life. You have been given the living water, and now new joy will spring up in your soul, and you will become a daughter of the Most High.

Differentiating Prayer and Worship
Excerpt: Chap. 22, Going Through Samaria
Son of Man: Urantia, 2nd ed.
Prayer is sustaining, where worship is divinely creative. Prayer is working on oneself. Worship is forgetting oneself. Worship is looking to the One for inspiration in how to serve the many. It is a son's personal communion with the Father, and it qualifies the extent that a soul is detached from the material world and secure in its embrace of spiritual realities.

Thomas' Doubt and Jesus' Clarification
Excerpt: Chap. 21, The Passover in Jerusalem
Son of Man: Urantia, 2nd ed.
Thomas was still confused and said, But Master, in our experience, the Father in heaven is not always kind and merciful. We suffer much on earth, and our prayers are not always answered. What are we missing? Jesus replied, Thomas, Thomas, how long is it going to be before you can hear with the ear of the Spirit? When are you going to realize that this is a spiritual kingdom and that God our Father is a spiritual being? Why can you not see that I am teaching you as spirits in the spiritual family of heaven and that the head of that family is an eternal and infinite spirit?

Thomas' Questions on Apostleship
Excerpt: Chap. 21, The Passover in Jerusalem
Son of Man: Urantia, 2nd ed.
Thomas brought up the rules that Jesus had earlier given to the apostles for their personal lives when he ordained them as kingdom ambassadors. Now, he wanted to know what rules they were supposed to teach the people to frame their lives. Should Jesus' disciples own slaves? Should people embrace poverty and give up material things? And would mercy somehow take over so we will no longer need laws and justice? First, Jesus made clear that he was living a different life on earth than everyone else. And because of that, there were certain rules that he was supposed to follow. Likewise, the apostles had an obligation to follow many of those same rules.

Clarification: temporal and eternal
I posted recently on the caution in part four of the Urantia revelation that in these days the greatest threat to believers will be holding to their faith, and reminded people that in the end all that really matters in this brief life is dying with our belief in the fatherhood of God and knowing that we have progressively grown in our ability to show others the fruits of the spirit and in turn draw them to God the father.
I should have said “all that really matters in an eternal sense,” so it did not appear that temporal matters were unimportant, which was pointed out in one of my posts.
To be clear, and more than I care to share, tattooed on my back in Latin is “Defend liberty, Protect the innocents, and Serve man for God.” I live this, and if I ever have a chance to serve again in the effort to end the harm now being done to children, I will and God have mercy on the bad guys because I will be stretched to offer it.
Our duty on Earth is to become the best we can be so we can in turn better serve humanity for the sake of God. That said, at the point of death—no matter what did or did not happen in your brief life—ALL that matters is your faith in God and knowing you showed some level, no matter how small, of progress in your life. If not, it ends. Your choice.
Please, everyone, time is short. Put parts 1-3 of the revelation aside for a time and study as best you can the life and teachings of Jesus. Anyone can memorize static information and pet their ego and run around feeling like they know something “special.” But few people can engage material that puts them immediately in front of the mirror and challenges them to become better people for the sake of God. Part 4 of the revelation has the information needed to transform ourselves and hence the world, but it cannot be told to people it has to be shown. The more we can speak less and instead draw people to us through our conduct the better we serve the kingdom of heaven.
The Son of Man: Urantia Project is a resource for people to use in their own efforts to spread what we have been told is the most important knowledge we can garner in this first short life on Earth. Please subscribe at the link below.
