Ubuntu in Action
I am excited to share the substantial completion of our double story Ubuntu Block project. This is the biggest project we have undertaken at the school so far. The block will serve our secondary learners and will accommodate up to 320 students. Just a few months ago, this was only a dream—and now it has become a reality.

The emergence of this project is a true embodiment of Ubuntu—how many hands came together to build this marvel. From the architects, the parents, local leaders, and the experts who stepped in to guide us through the technical challenges—this has been a collective effort.
I’m also deeply grateful to my beloved wife, Sharleen Bwakura Machipisa, for being a steady anchor through it all. This project came with its fair share of challenges—delays, frustrations, and uncertainties. We had to pray.

The journey of Chipochashe has been nothing short of a miracle. I am always humbled by how it all began in a small farm brick house—and how far we have come. I’m reminded of the scripture: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” This school is truly a gift to the community, and we are honored  to serve as its stewards

Lastly, and most importantly, I want to thank Compassionate Las Vegas and my brother Pato Banton  for showing love, compassion, and Ubuntu—believing in us and  continuing to invest in the future of the children in Zhanje village.
To God alone all the Glory belongs.

Pato Banton's role in the project

Pato Banton's role in the Ubuntu Block project appears to be a supportive one, as Moses Machipisa, the author of the Facebook post, expresses gratitude towards him for showing love, compassion, and Ubuntu, believing in the project and investing in the future of children in Zhanje village. Specifically, Pato Banton is mentioned alongside Compassionate Las Vegas as someone who has shown significant support for the project. His background as a Grammy-nominated reggae legend, minister, and goodwill ambassador for the Golden Rule, suggests that his involvement likely goes beyond just financial support, possibly bringing a sense of community and spiritual guidance to the project ¹ ².

Building's construction process
The building construction process involves several stages, from planning to completion. Here's an overview:

Pre-Construction
Design and Planning: Architects and engineers design the building, taking into account factors like budget, materials, and local regulations.
Permitting: Necessary permits and approvals are obtained from local authorities.

Construction Stages
Site Preparation: The construction site is cleared and prepared for building.
Foundation Work: The foundation of the building is laid, which includes excavation, footings, and foundation walls.
Structural Construction: The structural frame of the building is built, including beams, columns, and roofs.
Installation of Services: Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems are installed.
Finishing Work: Installation of doors, windows, flooring, and finishes like paint and trim.

Project Management
Project Scheduling: Creating a timeline for the construction process.
Budgeting and Cost Control: Managing costs and ensuring the project stays within budget.
Quality Control: Ensuring the building meets quality and safety standards.
Completion

Final Inspections: Conducting final inspections to ensure the building meets all requirements.
Occupancy: The building is occupied and ready for use.
In the context of the Ubuntu Block project mentioned in the Facebook post, the construction process involved collective effort from architects, parents, local leaders, and experts. The project's completion is a testament to the power of collaboration and community involvement ¹.
