The Orphan: A Call for Compassion and Community
An orphan in understanding of FER Ascenders fellowship community kaliro Uganda is typically defined as a child who has lost both parents or is without parental care and support. This tragic reality can be heart-breaking for any child. Orphans face immense challenges in their lives, often navigating through a world that does not seem to care for their well-being. It is a life that no child chooses, and one that many cannot avoid due to circumstances beyond their control.
Types of Orphans
We understand as we have an orphan can be categorized in two primary ways:
1. Double Orphan: A child who has lost both parents, often resulting from illness, accidents, or tragic circumstances.
2. Single Orphan: A child who has lost one parent but still retains the support of the other. In some contexts, this is also referred to as a "half-orphan."
While the distinctions between these types of orphans are important for understanding their needs, one universal truth remains: no one deserves to be an orphan.
The Struggles of Being an Orphan
We understand with extensive study that Being born an orphan comes with a unique set of challenges, both emotional and practical. For many, the absence of parental guidance creates a deep sense of longing and emotional trauma. The impact of growing up without the love, support, and mentorship of parents cannot be overstated.
Some of the difficulties orphans face include:
• Lack of Parental Guidance and Support: The absence of parents can result in emotional and psychological struggles, often leading to feelings of abandonment, low self-esteem, and confusion about the world. The parental role in a child's life extends beyond mere survival; it shapes their mental health, emotional development, and sense of self-worth.
• Financial Instability: Orphans often lack financial resources. Without parental support, they may struggle to meet basic needs like food, clothing, shelter, and healthcare. Economic hardship can also limit access to education, further reducing their opportunities for a better life.
• Social Stigma and Isolation: Children who have lost their parents or been abandoned can sometimes feel like outsiders. They may be subject to social exclusion or negative stereotypes, which can have long-lasting effects on their social development and emotional well-being.
• Limited Access to Education and Opportunities: Education is one of the greatest tools for escaping poverty and building a better future. Unfortunately, many orphans face barriers to receiving quality education due to their unstable living conditions or lack of resources.
The Innocence of Orphans: No One Chooses to Be Born an Orphan
Orphaned children are born into a world they did not choose. Their circumstances are often dictated by events beyond their control: the death of their parents, abandonment, or family crises.
• Lack of Choice: No child ever chooses to be born into a family that will abandon them or suffer a tragedy that results in their being orphaned. They are innocent and deserving of love and protection, regardless of the circumstances.
• Innocence: Children, by their very nature, are pure and innocent. They do not understand the reasons behind the tragedies that befall them, nor do they deserve to bear the burdens that come with losing their parents.
• Vulnerability: Orphaned children are particularly vulnerable. Without the protection and guidance of their parents, they are exposed to greater risks in a world that can be harsh and unforgiving.
• Circumstances Beyond Their Control: Many of the events that lead to a child becoming an orphan be it the death of parents, family separation, or abandonment are beyond the child’s control. This emphasizes the importance of compassion, empathy, and support from the community.
The Role of Orphanages in the Ministry of the Urantia Book
In light of these struggles, the question arises: What can be done to support orphans and ensure they are not left behind in society? One possible solution lies in creating orphan care communities rooted in spiritual principles. The Urantia Book teachings offer a profound foundation for addressing the needs of orphans in a holistic and compassionate manner.
Creating an orphan care community in Uganda based on the teachings of the Urantia Book can transform the lives of these vulnerable children.
Why F.E.R Integrated Community Orphanage School Based on the Urantia Book Matters:
• Holistic Approach to Education: The Urantia Book emphasizes the importance of a well-rounded education intellectual, moral, and spiritual. This approach ensures that children are not only equipped with knowledge but also taught ethical values, kindness, and self-awareness, preparing them for life as contributing, compassionate individuals.
• Nurturing Spiritual Growth: The teachings of the Urantia Book highlight the importance of raising children in God's image, focusing on developing their moral compass, spiritual growth, and deep understanding of their place in the universe. This sense of spiritual security can help orphans overcome feelings of abandonment, giving them a foundation of love and guidance that transcends their earthly circumstances.
• Practical Training: Besides academic knowledge, the Urantia Book stresses the importance of hands-on skills and practical training. By incorporating this into an orphan care community, children would be empowered with the tools necessary for self-sufficiency, allowing them to break free from the cycle of poverty.
• Community Development: Building an orphan care community fosters a sense of shared responsibility and interconnectedness. Uganda, with its high number of orphans, can benefit from a collaborative effort that not only supports the children but also strengthens the bonds within the community.
• Addressing Specific Needs: The specific challenges faced by orphans in Uganda poverty, lack of education, social stigma can be addressed through a targeted orphan care program that aligns with the values of the Urantia Book.
• Empowering Children: An orphan care community offers more than just shelter. It empowers orphans by providing education, emotional support, and practical skills, thus enabling them to become self-sufficient, break the cycle of poverty, and contribute positively to society.
Potential Programs for F.E.R Integrated Community Orphanage School.
To support these children and ensure they thrive, a range of programs based on the teachings of the Urantia Book could be implemented:
1. Orphanage Community School Project: A school dedicated to providing quality education, emphasizing intellectual, moral, and spiritual development. This would provide orphans with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in life.
2. Women's Reader Community: A program that empowers women who are often key caregivers and leaders in their communities by educating them about the Urantia Book, offering support, and promoting leadership.
3. Elderly Care Community Fellowship: This initiative could bring intergenerational wisdom and care to the orphan community, fostering strong relationships between the younger and older generations, and providing both groups with a sense of belonging and support.
4. Mentorship and Education Programs: Providing positive role models and mentors for orphans, guiding them through life's challenges, and helping them make informed decisions about their future paths.
5. Urantia Book library: by establishing a study centre we can expose our children to the true teachings of the Urantia Book.
6. Construction of a Vocational Secondary school, integrated with the Urantia Book teachings.
By the establishment of this institution, we can ensure the skilling of our children.
Conclusion: A Future of Hope
In conclusion, while no child should have to endure the heartbreak of losing their parents, we can choose to make a difference in their lives. By creating orphan care communities based on the teachings of the Urantia Book, we can offer these children a chance at healing, education, and spiritual growth.
Orphans are not just children who have lost their parents they are our future, and they deserve the same love, care, and opportunity to grow as any other child. Together, we can help these children rise above their circumstances, empowering them to live meaningful, fulfilling lives.
Let us commit ourselves to compassion, service, and community, knowing that we are all interconnected and that the care we offer one child is a gift to all of humanity.

Jesus and Education in The Urantia Book
The Urantia Book presents a unique and profound view of Jesus’ attitude toward education. Far from being indifferent to learning, Jesus is portrayed as a strong believer in the value of study, training, and lifelong growth. His understanding of education went well beyond the accumulation of facts; for him, true education was a pathway to intellectual maturity, moral integrity, and spiritual enlightenment.
The Value of Study and Learning
From an early age, Jesus showed a remarkable dedication to study. The Urantia Book describes him as spending countless evenings in the synagogue library, reading the Scriptures and carefully organizing knowledge for later use. His approach was systematic he accumulated information in childhood, classified it during youth, and then drew on it with wisdom in his adult teaching. He also encouraged his family members and apostles to set aside time for study, knowing that serious learning was essential preparation for effective living and ministry.
Education as Character Growth
For Jesus, education was not merely intellectual. It was about the transformation of personality and the growth of character. He emphasized fairness, justice, and service in the upbringing of his siblings, preferring positive exhortation over negative prohibition. His belief was that knowledge must lead to wisdom, and wisdom must inspire higher living. In this sense, education was both moral training and spiritual preparation.
Practical Training and Experience
Jesus’ educational philosophy was highly practical. When training his apostles, he used a hands-on method: sending them out two by two to preach, then reviewing their experiences with them. This apprenticeship-style learning allowed them to grow through experience, not just through listening. He demonstrated that education must be lived, not merely studied.
Selective and Spiritual Learning
The Urantia Book also highlights Jesus’ emphasis on choosing the best spiritual nourishment from the Scriptures. He guided his followers to focus on what was eternally true and divinely beautiful rather than getting lost in rigid debates or ritualistic interpretations. For him, the highest form of education was the feeding of the soul with uplifting truth.
Respect for Individual Growth
Perhaps most importantly, Jesus respected the freedom of the learner. He never forced belief or imposed truth through fear. Instead, he used parables, questions, and real-life examples to draw people into self-discovery. He believed faith must be chosen freely and education must respect personal dignity. In this way, he created a model of teaching that nurtured individuality while inspiring collective growth.
Conclusion
In The Urantia Book, Jesus stands out as a great advocate of education. But his idea of education was far richer than formal schooling. For him, it was a lifelong journey of the mind, heart, and spirit—a process of knowing God, embracing truth, and serving others. His teachings remind us that true education is not just about what we know, but about who we become.

Dear SFN Community, Supporting Team, Donors, Subscribers, and Friends of FER Integrated Orphanage Community School,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to update you on the current situation at our school in Uganda. Unfortunately, we are facing a critical situation that demands our urgent attention and support.
Our school, which is home to 600 vulnerable children, is struggling to provide basic necessities like food, shelter, and healthcare. The situation has become dire, and we are in desperate need of financial assistance to sustain our operations.
Recently, I had a meeting with the relatives of our children to discuss the matters at hand. Unfortunately, it was a somber gathering, filled with stories of tragedy and hardship. Many of our children have been orphaned due to HIV/AIDS, poverty, and conflict. Their relatives, who are already struggling to make ends meet, are unable to provide the necessary support.
This is where we need your help. We are appealing to your generosity and kindness to consider providing financial assistance to our school. Your support will go directly towards providing food, shelter, healthcare, and education to our children.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in the lives of our children. We are grateful for your consideration and support.
Please join us in this noble endeavor to provide hope and a brighter future for our children.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Best regards,

Exploring Career Choices: An Academic Research Trip for Orphaned Students
Introduction:
The FER Integrated Orphanage School Program recently organized an academic research trip for older children who have reached secondary school level. The theme of the trip was "Choosing a Career," aimed at helping students shape their career choices. The trip took students to nearby markets, business centers, schools, factories, and agriculture farms, including Kaliro Open Market, Kaliro Bakery, Nesta Fuel Station, and NANA Farm Kaliro.
Challenges:
Despite the excitement and enthusiasm, the trip was not without challenges. Students had to walk long distances due to lack of transportation, which was exhausting. Additionally, the children spent the entire day without food, which affected their energy levels. Inclement weather and shortage of funds to support the trip further complicated the situation.
Objectives:
The research trip aimed to expose students to various career options, enabling them to make informed decisions about their future. By visiting different markets, business centers, schools, factories, and agriculture farms, students gained hands-on experience and insight into various professions.
Conclusion:
The academic research trip was a valuable experience for the students, despite the challenges faced. However, the school is currently facing difficulties in raising funds to renew the rent contract for the school premises. We appeal to our sponsors and well-wishers to assist us with an equivalent of $300 to add up t
to support the school's operations by renewing of the ren contract. It was initially $500 but have raised $200 And now need $300
Please feel free to support us , we need your help!

Hello everyone; I hope this finds you well. I wanted to update you on the progress of our school project. We recently had a school management committee meeting to discuss the fate of the project, as our rent contract is expiring in July 2024. We resolved to renew our rent contract until 2025, but we need to raise approximately $500 to do so, unfortunately we are not in a proper financial position.
Additionally, we plan to establish temporary structures on our land to secure our establishment and settlement.
We also invite all our students who have reached the secondary school level to explore the business community and gain valuable life skills and career guidance. Learners were grouped into 10 groups of 5 according to their interests of business: others were taken to a bakery company, cosmetics shop, whole sale shop, banana selling business, chapati business among, garments selling business among others.
I am thrilled to inform you that with the help of sister Monica; we have successfully established a bricks making project earning about $90 per quarter and food farming projects at the school.
These projects have not only generated income but also provided food for the orphanage, supporting our school project.
We recently established a 10,000euculyptus trees forest aimed at establishing a sustainable source of income to the school, FER Ascenders Fellowship Community Kaliro Uganda and Orphanage in the near future.
Thanks to you and sister Monica for these initiatives, we are now able to:
- Generate income to support the school's operations
- Provide food for the children and staff
- Pay workers' wages
We are grateful for your support and encouragement, which has helped us achieve this milestone.
Your contributions have made a significant impact on the lives of our children, and we are forever grateful.
I request you to give a hand with the little you can afford to. We are in a desperate spot!
We look forward to sharing more updates with you soon.
Peace and blessings,
Thank you so much, Dick, for believing in Andrew and his goal for these children.
