83:1.5 Primitive marriage was primarily industrial; and even in modern times it is often a social or business affair. Through the influence of the mixture of the Andite stock and as a result of the mores of advancing civilization, marriage is slowly becoming mutual, romantic, parental, poetical, affectionate, ethical, and even idealistic. Selection and so-called romantic love, however, were at a minimum in primitive mating. During early times husband and wife were not much together; they did not even eat together very often. But among the ancients, personal affection was not strongly linked to sex attraction; they became fond of one another largely because of living and working together.

      Advancing Love

Cold and rainy all day long.

No snow as yet, cold’s not that strong.

But every day we do get closer.

      Winter days won’t lack composure.

The cold may make us all seem stiff.

Hard to move through life‘s snow drifts.

But when we use our minds and shovel

Our days go on, because were humble.

A humble approach to find our God,

Will yield success when that way’s trod.

      God reveals himself to you

When you humbly search for truth.

When your ego plays a role

      Ego dignity takes its toll.

An ego chief who is in charge

Cannot see as he gets too large.

He cannot see as he grows tall

Too much involved or he may fall.

      He must worry about himself.

A humble man plays cards he’s dealt.

So with my humble hat in hand

      I pray to God, I don’t demand.

      God knows best, I understand.

I will learn, His Will is grand!

Thank You, Father, what I see

      Is advancing Love through history.

      Our direction overall

Is what’s best, I hear Your call.
