2./ Understanding God and his Universe

According to the teachings of the Fifth Epochal Revelation in The Urantia Book Papers, understanding God and His universe reveals a grand, organized, loving cosmos centered on the Universal Father—the infinite, eternal, personal God who is the First Source and Center of all reality.
God: The Universal Father
God is the primal personality—infinite, eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent—yet profoundly personal and loving. He is not an impersonal force, abstract principle, or mere "supreme value," but the actual Father of all personalities. The book emphasizes that the highest human concept of God is as an infinite personality, approachable as a loving spiritual parent.
The divine mandate echoes throughout: "Be you perfect, even as I am perfect." This is not a distant command but an invitation to grow toward Godlikeness through free-will choices, faith, and loving service.
The Universe: God's Grand Creation
The universe of universes is purposeful, not accidental or self-existent—it is the deliberate work of the Universal Father, executed in partnership with the Eternal Son and Infinite Spirit (forming the Paradise Trinity). Creation flows from God's eternal purpose, manifesting in levels of reality:
The cosmos operates on multiple levels: material (energy and pattern), mindal (truth and meanings), and spiritual (values and personality). Reality progresses from potential (Absolutes) to actual (evolving Supreme Being, who unifies finite experience). The ultimate purpose is experiential—creatures of time finding, knowing, and becoming like the eternal God through the long Paradise ascent.
Key Insight
God is both transcendent (beyond all creation) and immanent (present in every heart via the Adjuster). The universe is the Father's loving home for His diverse children, a vast school for spiritual evolution where free will, love, and service lead to eternal survival, personality realization, and joyful partnership with Deity. True understanding dawns through personal religious experience: worship, faith, and the inner leading of the indwelling spirit fragment.
In essence, the revelation portrays a loving, personal God who created an immense, orderly, evolving universe as the arena for finite beings to achieve divine perfection, eternal adventure, and ultimate oneness with the Father—"the transcendent goal of the children of time is to find the eternal God."
