ONE FAMILY WOMEN’S CORPS AFRICA
We started as Dorcas foundation under FER ASCENDERS, handling women and children in particular, leading them through the reading of the Urantia Book.
We have not only read the UB but have also inspired women and children in hands on skills like weaving, tailoring and farming.
We decided to change to One Family Women Corps Africa.
Acknowledgement,
I take this opportunity to thank the IFC for the support and efforts made for the outreach of the UB / new revelation to our communities.
I also thank Sister Monica Kemp for her support towards the purchase of the sewing machine.
Thanks goes to Sister Marin for her contributions towards our sewing project.
Great thanks goes to IFC and Kemp family for the Butaleja meeting hall which was rented for the ONE FAMILY WOMEN CORPS meetings.
Progress
I started as a single female reader with my husband, my husband invited many others friends of his.
Being only one female, I faced a challenge interacting with them and also realized that many of them were keeping their wives behind, this is when I thought of a new idea that my husband did not have of inviting women and children.
I started with my two friends and many others joined to make 20 at first, others joined making a total of 80 women and 15 girl children.
Together, we are reading the UB section IV. Many of them cannot read but my team and with the help of Andrew and Maureen, we have always read for them and explained to them.
Achievements
Together, we have been able to rent a room for our workshop and a place of training, with the financial support from Sister Marin.
We were able to secure sewing machines for training and making some money, with financial support from Sister Monica through Andrew.
We were able to increase the number of women involved and interested in the UB outreach mission.
We have trained many girl children and women hands on skills, enabling them learn how to earn a living, changing their status from over depending on men for survival.
We have been able to reduce domestic violence and child abuse among reader members through the guidance and counseling offered to the members.
We have promoted farming among members and hard work.
We have promoted love and care for one another; this has been done through the “Love Fridays”
Every first Friday in a month, there is giving, members give gifts to one another expressing love.
We have succeeded in creating more women headed readers groups.
We have formed our women choir so there is practice of singing whenever we meet.
We have practiced story telling the life and teachings of Jesus to young ones.
Our women men corps has rooted itself so much in the following programs.
Green world environment Africa intended to plant trees, flowers and food crops ensuring natural living.
Jesus’ 500 Farm Kaliro, here we aim at growing crops and upon harvest, we start sharing with the communities and a like found available.
This is done at free will by the members, where by those who have go to communities and give to the needy the little they offer to give.
