Question: What is the full meaning of the Resurrection of Jesus - How did this affect his followers when they witnessed this event?
Answer: The witnessing of the resurrection of Jesus had such a profound effect on the followers of Jesus that they mistakenly created a religion about the risen Christ instead of the religion he taught them and demonstrated in his life with us.
Immortality was now no longer a long cherished belief among the world's religions, it was now a demonstrated fact that the Father of Love can grant the gift of Eternal life to his children on earth.
For generation after generation man had long craved eternal life and immortality. Jesus came to this world to show the way, the truth, and the life into the the eternal adventure in the Universes of the Father of Love and made that way clear by the gospel he proclaimed and the life he lived. Ending this life with the demonstration and witnessing of the actual garment we will all be resurrected into when our life on this world is finished. Almost 1,000 human beings witnessed his 19 Resurrection appearances before his final departure from this world.
One of the most important understandings of the true believer is in the certainty of the Father's gift of Eternal Life and the capacity to achieve it through the mercyful ministry of salvation of his Divine Son and our Paradise Creator Son of God. Who is now both man and God even as the promise of the Father was that we also can by our living faith also become sons and daughters of the living God. And while we will always have older brothers like Christ to lead and guide us we will also in eternity become more and more like God as demonstrated by Christ in our capacity to love and serve. Even to the full power of love Jesus demonstrated in his life on this very world.
The greatest accomplishment of the resurrection and ascension to the Father was the pouring out of the Spirit of Truth on the Day of Pentecost. Allowing Jesus to be present in the minds and hearts of his children just as he was when he walked on earth as our companions in the flesh and all at the same time only minus the garment of the flesh saying at every turn in the road. "This is the way, walk therein".
Said Jesus concerning these things.
180:4.5 Jesus looked down upon them all, smiled, and said: "My little children, I am going away, going back to my Father. In a little while you will not see me as you do here, as flesh and blood. In a very short time I am going to send you my spirit, just like me except for this material body. This new teacher is the Spirit of Truth who will live with each one of you, in your hearts, and so will all the children of light be made one and be drawn toward one another. And in this very manner will my Father and I be able to live in the souls of each one of you and also in the hearts of all other men who love us and make that love real in their experiences by loving one another, even as I am now loving you."
