Growing Faith: Small, Alive, and Still Becoming

The UB clearly quotes that :“Better by far to have a small but living and growing faith than to be possessed of a great intellect with its dead stores of worldly wisdom and spiritual unbelief.”

147:5.8 Some of you may not stand high in actual levels of soul and spirit, but you are making daily progress on the living way opened up, through faith, to God. There are tremendous possibilities in each of you for the future. Better by far to have a small but living and growing faith than to be possessed of a great intellect with its dead stores of worldly wisdom and spiritual unbelief."

When I read this line, it feels like a gentle but powerful wake-up call. It doesn’t insult intelligence, education, or careful thinking. Instead, it warns us about something much more dangerous than ignorance! A very good morning to you my fellow brothers and sisters! Today we share something small to do with the glowing faith and the exact impact ..stay tuned.

Did you know that ;having knowledge without faith, quickly depicts emptiness in you soul ? In other words, it’s possible to be very smart and still spiritually empty. You can collect answers, arguments, and facts....yet still not truly believe, not truly trust, and not truly surrender your life to what is good and divine.Today I won't dive into atheism.

Living faith is different. It’s small sometimes. It might not look impressive from the outside. But living faith moves. It grows when we act on it. It becomes stronger when we keep choosing goodness even when we’re uncertain. Faith isn’t only a feeling or a performance but it’s a way of walking forward with hope, even with questions in your hands. This sounds funny to me ,how about you??

FAITH IN A WORLD THAT FEELS DIVIDED

Look around today and you can see faith under pressure from many directions. In politics, we often see leaders and systems promising “certainty,” but sometimes using fear to pull people apart. Many people feel overwhelmed, angry, and exhausted ;and that can make them focus only on winning, not on understanding. In moments like these, a living faith can help someone slow down long enough to remain human. It encourages people to keep looking for truth rather than only for power. A small faith may not stop political conflict instantly, but it can stop a person from becoming cruel inside. Has this been manifested in you ?

Religion also faces a similar challenge. Some people treat faith like it’s either “all or nothing” as if doubt makes you worthless. But real faith isn’t fragile like that. Living faith can carry doubt and still keep growing. In many religious communities today, there are people who know a lot of religious facts but feel emotionally disconnected. They may be able to quote teachings yet still struggle to trust God with their real life. This quote reminds us that knowing many words is not the same as having living trust.TRUE or FALSE?

Why Growing Faith Matters More Than Sounding Right

The quote says faith should be "living and growing". That’s the key. Living faith is humble enough to learn. Growing faith is patient enough to keep practicing. It doesn’t pretend we have everything figured out. Instead, it keeps moving toward what’s true through prayer, moral choices, forgiveness, and steady effort.

Maybe that’s the hardest part: trusting that growth takes time. Sometimes faith feels like it’s barely there. Sometimes it feels weak. But even weak faith is not useless if it keeps reaching upward. Like a seed, it may look small, but it has the power to change the whole future. Anyone who recalls of the story of "The Mustard Seed"?

In the end, this quote doesn’t ask us to stop thinking. It asks us to stop thinking "instead of believing". It invites us to choose faith that reaches beyond worldly wisdom ; faith that brings life, not spiritual unbelief. Because it’s better to begin with something small and real -something living enough to grow than to stand surrounded by “wisdom” and still be spiritually far away.

Godspeed Ayo.

    Learn with me
    1. Faith is not the same as intelligence ; it’s possible to have great knowledge but still lack living spiritual belief.

    2. Small faith can be real and powerful -living faith grows through practice, not through perfection. Never lose hope.

    3. Faith should be alive, not dead ; use the mind, but let faith remain active in the heart through trusting God and choosing goodness.
