Why did Jesus wait until the apostles were separated, afraid and behind bolted doors before he appeared to them? Why did Peter, crushed by guilt over his denial, meet the risen Master alone in a garden first? And what did Jesus really say to Thomas about the nail marks that most Bible readers never hear?
In this Urantia Book study session, Dr. Roger Paul reads and discusses Paper 191, beginning on page 2037. We follow the emotional collapse of the apostles on Resurrection Sunday and the struggles of each one: Peter swinging between faith and doubt, James, Nathaniel, Simon Zelotes, Philip, Matthew, the Alpheus twins and Thomas brooding alone in Bethpage. Then we watch the morontia Jesus appear to Peter, to the ten apostles, and later to Thomas, and we ask a question many readers overlook: if the morontia body carries no scars, what do the Urantia Book and the Bible each tell us about the wounds?
Stay to the end for the surprising details about the seven stages of morontia progression that Jesus completed in just forty days, the Philadelphia appearance to Abner, Lazarus and about 150 believers, and the appearance to Rodan and the believers of Alexandria. Dr. Paul also points out a little noticed truth about mansion worlds: every local system has its own set of seven. Most students miss it.
