"The majority of professed Christians of Western civilization are unwittingly actual secularists."
The above line has always been a "wake up call" in my mind. Yet most criticism of Christianity is met with ardent defense, understandable by those who are not accepting of the Fifth Epochal Revelation but it's confusing to me how Urantia Book Readers are, for the most part it seems, reluctant to discuss it's weaknesses.
"Unwittingly actual secularists". How can this be? Of course the answers can be found within the "loyalties" bonding so many together no? It's not "what's said" nor is it "what's done", it is "shared belief". And even though secularism has been known to break the bonds of "Church", it is sadly secularists, even "unwittingly" ones who bring it on, something to think about isn't it? After-all secularism is humanism, atheism.
195:8.3 At the time of this revelation, the prevailing intellectual and philosophical climate of both European and American life is decidedly secular—humanistic. For three hundred years Western thinking has been progressively secularized. Religion has become more and more a nominal influence, largely a ritualistic exercise. The majority of professed Christians of Western civilization are unwittingly actual secularists.
