Friends of Bugala island villagers

This Bugala island, with a unique virgin, diverse culture, grounds and clear blue water, and very hospitable people.

Despite this mesmerising beauty, some inhabitants lack basic services like water, good accessible schools for kids and power connection.

Its upon this background that I set up this group to bring to attention the life challenges faced by this people.

Currently, there is a village that drinks water from a dirty well and a school whose kids fetch water from a lake shore infested with crocodiles! We need to put our hands together to offer help to these villagers.

Bugala island is the largest island among the 84 islands that make up the famous, virgin beautiful, tranquil and Serene Ssesse island Archipelago , found in lake Victoria, Uganda, east Africa.

This island he accessed from the capital by vehicles and then ship from the east of Entebbe city and by ferry from east of Masaka town. It takes on average about 3 1/2 Hrs to reach the island by either vehicle or ship.

The island is about 64 KM long, with many beautiful tranquil and clear water beaches and lake shires covered with unique tree species and white sand.

The main economic activity is palm oil growing, fishing, cattle keeping, poultry.

The townships have clean water, power and most people move by boba boda ( motor cycle) the population is largely rural rendering some people to have access to water and power.
