Why is Jesus our best friend? 5 righteous reasons

We can trust in Christ at every hour and in every place. No matter what happens to us or who needs His help. Recognizing His Glory is part of the blessing that surrounds us. Lets remember the reasons why His path is unique.

“Make no friends with those given to anger, and do not associate with hotheads, or you may learn their ways and entangle yourself in a snare.” Proverbs 22:24-25

He considers Himself our friend. As we are believers we learn more about God, we exalt Him as the lord of our lives, and we recognize Him as the ruling sovereign of the world. It's easier to think of Him as the exalted and almighty Creator, Savior and Lord, that to place Him as a friend. But Jesus strived to teach His disciples His disciples that He was as much God's son as He was the best of friends.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

He gave His life for us. His offer of friendship sees us also as modern disciples. The same as the twelve apostles, we have the privilege of saying that Christ gave His life for us in a supreme act of love and commitment. Besides, His spirit reveals the truth in God's word within our hearts so that we may know Christ and His paths more. In other words, Jesus has let us know the things He heard from His father.

“Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.” 1 John 4:7

He will not abandon us. if that fact that He has already given His life for us in order to free us from sin and grant us the promise of eternal life at His side is not enough, lets think of all the times we have faced hard times and He has not abandoned us. To recap, that is what makes a good friend, He does not abandon His own not in good times nor bad times.

“Where there is no guidance, a nation falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.” Proverbs 11:14

He loves us. Because the Holy Bible overflows with examples that show the love God has for us, whether we are His faithful children that obey His word and dignify it with their example, or if we are heartless sinners showing genuine repentance. God loves us unconditionally and there is no one nor anything that will make Him change His mind the way a true friend should be.

“Now when Job’s three friends heard of all these troubles that had come upon him, each of them set out from his home—Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They met together to go and console and comfort him.” Job 2:11

In Him we find a counselor and someone to confide in. We can trust our deepest secrets and fears in Christ, as well as our joys and worries. Let's remember the importance that a friend represents when we confide and open our hearts to them. God is also an excellent counselor and His word gives testament to it, since all word that comes out of His mouth is full of love.
