Unity, Joy, Family, Fellowship…

An Uplifting Occasion in Uganda

Magara Benjamin writes joyfully about Pato Banton and Antoinette Rootsdawtaha’s visit last week to Ibanda, Uganda, where plans are being laid to create the Urantia Farm Project, a place intended for body, soul…and truth seekers.

I would like to share how truly wonderful, colorful, and deeply meaningful was Brother Pato and Sister Antoinette’s visit to Ibanda, in Uganda, on February 3, 2025. Words cannot fully capture the beauty of the experiences we shared, but I will try my best to paint the picture for you.

Our day began with a special gathering at the Golden View Hotel, where we met with a group of fifteen Urantia Book readers in an atmosphere filled with warmth, joy, and a deep sense of fellowship. The aim of the occasion was to connect, share experiences, and strengthen the mission of the Christ Michael Center in Uganda.

Meeting Brother Pato and his wife Antoinette was a moment of great honor and happiness. Pato and Antoinette have been touring the world to create the international Ubuntu Network, a community of individuals and organizations committed to practicing and promoting the principles of Ubuntu, whose main tenet is: “I am because we are.” They were in Ibanda as part of their Ubuntu/Urantia Mission to Rwanda and Uganda.

The couple’s presence added so much light to our lives. As we shared our personal experiences, reflections, and insights, we all gained wisdom and inspiration from one another. The unity we felt in that room was a reminder of how powerful and transformative the teachings of The Urantia Book can be when embraced together.

After this beautiful gathering, we had the privilege of visiting Bishop Amos Magezi of the Church of Uganda, in Ankole Diocese in Ibanda. Meeting him was an incredible experience, as he shared words of wisdom and guidance drawn from his many years of dedicated service. His humility, kindness, and deep understanding of spiritual leadership were truly inspiring. We left that visit with our hearts touched and our minds enriched.

From there, we proceeded to my family home in Kiburara Trading Center, where we had the opportunity to visit my mom and siblings. The joy on their faces when they saw Brother Pato and Sister Antoinette was indescribable. It was a moment filled with love, laughter, and gratitude. Seeing my family so happy and knowing that they felt the warmth and kindness of our guests made my heart swell with emotion. Family is the foundation of our lives, and moments like these remind us of the true meaning of connection and togetherness.

The Urantia Farm Project

After spending precious time with my family, we continued our journey to visit the land where we are planning to establish the Christ Michael Center Urantia Farm Project, which aims to be a self-sustaining initiative to support our community and mission. Pato and Antoinette have been supportive of our work.

This visit was one of the most meaningful parts of the day. Standing on that land, envisioning what it will become, and feeling the shared passion and commitment of everyone involved filled me with so much hope for the future. The project is not just about cultivating crops, it is about cultivating a community, a place of learning, service, and spiritual growth for Urantia Book readers and beyond.

As we take the first steps toward bringing this vision to life, we call upon everyone to keep this project in their prayers and thoughts. With faith, dedication, and the collective love of our community, we can build something truly extraordinary. Together, we have the power to create a space that will nourish not only the body but also the soul, a place where truth seekers can come together, support one another, and live out the higher teachings that unite us all.

Reflecting on this entire day, I cannot express enough how much I cherished every moment spent with Minister Pato and Sister Antoinette. Their generosity, kindness, and unwavering love for this mission have deeply touched my heart. The day was not just an event, it was a memory that I will carry with me forever. I am beyond grateful for the time we shared, the lessons we learned, and the love that was exchanged.

May God continue to bless them abundantly for their compassionate hearts and selfless dedication. May this journey we are on together continue to unfold in beautiful and unexpected ways. And may we always remember that we are never alone in this work—our efforts are held in the hands of something far greater than ourselves.

I believe in the spirit of Ubuntu,

I am because we are
