Mind Your Choices - Soren K Vestergaard
The more adaptable and receptive the mind, the more effortlessly divine teachings can flow through it. A plastic, flexible mind becomes a conduit for higher wisdom, allowing the soul to expand and evolve. As we relinquish pride in our own thoughts and release the need to claim ownership over them, we invite our divine teacher to reveal deeper truths and new revelations. This humility opens the doorway to spiritual insight, for the mind that holds tightly to its own ideas leaves little room for the inflow of divine guidance.
At the heart of this process lies a critical realization: our task is not to generate or fabricate thoughts, but to choose from those that naturally arise within our minds. Thoughts, in essence, are bestowals from the infinite spirit. They come to us as gifts, unbidden yet purposeful. It is in the arena of choice that our soul and spirit are called to operate. Through conscious and discerning selection, we align ourselves with divine will and take hold of our spiritual development. By prioritizing divine influence over personal pride and ego, we gradually attune to the subtle promptings of higher guidance, recognizing them as meaningful signposts on the path to enlightenment.
However, the illusion of independent thinking can be a formidable barrier to progress. If we insist on crafting our own thoughts in isolation, believing that we alone possess the answers, we inadvertently block the forward momentum of spiritual growth. The great leaps in understanding the will of God do not come through intellectual striving but through the grace of allowing divine inspiration to present itself. Thought processes are often given to us in alignment with our current level of spiritual maturity, reflecting the natural progression of our previous choices. Rarely will thoughts arrive that are far removed from our enlightenment, as such experiences can provoke fear or confusion. The divine ensures that we are prepared for each new level of insight by presenting thoughts in harmony with the spiritual groundwork we have laid.
Inviting the spirit to guide our thinking accelerates this process. When we open ourselves to these "kaleidoscopic" steps, we begin to ascend the circles of cosmic insight. This ascent, however, remains within the bounds of our choosing. Even the highest thoughts will not violate our free will. The spirit works in cooperation with the soul, never imposing but always offering.
Once the soul and spirit are empowered to operate within the arena of choice, a cascade of new thought patterns may emerge. To the mortal mind, these shifts may seem unfamiliar, even disorienting. Yet, as clarity dawns, the mortal mind begins to recognize that these processes are the natural outgrowth of previous decisions. In this, we realize that thought is not our identity—it is a transient vessel. The mind, once perceived as the seat of self, is revealed to be a tool, one that can be loaned to the soul and spirit for divine purposes.
Our true essence lies not in the mind but in the spirit and the evolving morontia-soul. As this realization takes root, our first and most vital choice becomes clear: to shift the seat of personality expression from the mind-intellect to the morontia-soul. This decision marks a pivotal step in spiritual advancement. With this shift, ego-driven decisions lose their grip, replaced by God-centered choices that reflect higher realities. Over time, the more we choose in alignment with divine will, the more these choices become woven into the fabric of our identity.
As we ascend the circles from the seventh to the first, our capacity to choose that which promotes spiritual progress expands. Gradually, we sense that our individuality is dissolving into divine harmony. This is not the loss of self, but the refining of self into a clearer instrument of God’s will. We begin to perceive ourselves as conduits for divine expression, playing a symphony that resonates throughout the universe. This surrender does not diminish us; rather, it elevates us, aligning our will with the grand orchestration of cosmic purpose.
In this journey, recognizing that we are not our thoughts but our choices is a profound liberation. The transition from self-perception to God-perception allows us to witness the divine hand at work in the smallest details of life. Even the most mundane moments are infused with purpose as each choice draws us closer to the divine. In this unfolding process, we become increasingly real. Our choices shape not only our personal reality but also contribute to the evolving expression of the Supreme Being. For in each act of choosing God, the divine responds, amplifying our efforts and accelerating our progress.
Ultimately, by choosing to know God, we become living embodiments of divine will. Each thought we accept, each decision we make, forges a path that aligns us more deeply with cosmic reality. In this sacred co-creation, we fulfill the highest potential of our existence—becoming, in every sense, the will of God in action.
