15./ Jesus (age 30) Desert Caravan Leader
Could you have had but one look at him, you would have known that Jesus was a real man of great experience in the things of this world. ... What he aimed at in his life appears to have been a superb self-respect. 140:8.20

The entire ascendant plan of mortal progression is characterized by the practice of giving out to other being new truth and experience just as soon as acquired. You work way through the long school of paradise attainment by serving as teachers to those pupils just behind you in the scale of progression. 3:39.4.11

Dear Pastor Akamune,
Thank you again for your thoughtful message—it's clear we both share a deep love for spiritual truths and a desire to understand God's infinite mercy. I appreciate how you distinguish between the soul and the indwelling spirit, drawing from both the Bible and The Urantia Papers.
Your emphasis on the spirit's perfection and return to the Father resonates strongly, and it's a beautiful reminder of divine presence within us. Let's explore this gently together, as fellow seekers, using the revelation's insights to clarify.
You're correct that the Divine Pilot—the "still small voice" or Divine Spirit Fragment from the Father (Paper 107:0.1)—is perfect and completely unaffected by sin. It returns to the Father upon death if fusion hasn't occurred (Paper 112:3.7). However, the Faithful Pilot's full effectiveness in guiding us depends on our active cooperation through faith. As book states: "The Adjuster is truly the path to Paradise, but man must be willing to walk that path, and the Adjuster must be permitted to guide him" (110:4.3). T
his requires calming the mind via prayer, worship, or stillness to hear its leadings (91:5.3: "In the choosing of truth consequent to the exercise of faith, man experiences the potential of personality unification"). Without this faith-act, contact remains limited, though the Inner Bastion patiently waits (110:7.7: "Adjusters rejoice to make contact... but they must be patient through the long years of silent sojourn").
On Ezekiel 18:20 ("the soul that sins, shall die"): the Papers don't directly quote or verify this, as it views Old Testament teachings as part of evolutionary religion—valuable but incomplete (92:4.4). We are actually gifted with a huge amount of information on how the biblical scriptures came into existence. Instead, it reframes "spiritual death" as non-survival, not inevitable punishment but a free-will choice.
The soul (morontia entity co-created by mind and God's Spirit; 111:2.4) can cease to exist if we persistently reject God's will through iniquity (willful sin against truth; 112:3.2: "Spiritual (soul) death. If and when mortal man has finally rejected survival...").
The Father never arbitrarily destroys souls with survival potential: "God has decreed the sovereignty of the material and mortal will, and that decree is absolute" (5:6.8). Even the smallest flicker of faith ensures survival as a "sleeping survivor" (112:5.3: "Mortal identity is a transient time-life condition... it is real only insofar as the personality elects to become a continuing universe phenomenon"). No normal human indwelt by the seven adjutant mind-spirits (36:5) and TA faces eternal "death" without choice—mercy prevails (Paper 2:3.2: God offers "eternal survival" to all who seek it).
In salvation terms, UB describes being "born again" as spiritual rebirth, where the soul aligns with the Actual Fragment of the Existential Cause of the Total Cosmos (193:0.3: "You must be reborn of the spirit"). The Citadel of the Spirit isn't recreated but liberated through our will-alignment (110:3.1). Sin torments the Interpreter but doesn't destroy it or the soul unless rejection is final (3:1.5: "Even in wrongdoing you torment the indwelling gift of God"). This underscores God's mercy: "The Father's heart never closes to the needs and petitions of His children" (5:1.11).
I share this mercifully, not to debate, but to build understanding—The Urantia Book complements the Bible's wisdom with cosmic context. Let's continue exploring; what resonates most with you?
One of our seasoned students, David Kantor, has recently primiered a major film, When Stories Die: Christianity's Crisis and the Urantia Papers, which I can imagine you might find fascinating.
