I work with Hope For Children In Crisis Ministries Uganda. It is a non profit community based organization in Uganda, Mayuge district. It was initiated in 2013 and this was due to the challenges, needs and the conditions in my community, and so this ministry cares for and supports HIV/AIDS orphans and the disadvantaged/unprivileged children with basic needs through the available evangelical resources and schools as well as providing for clothing needs and food.

Hope For Children In Crisis Ministries,  Uganda was birthed through the initial Vision to care and support for Orphans, Disadvantaged children to acquire free quality primary education, feeding, creating happiness and peace through compassion and this vision has been realized one small step at a time and it is expanding to other villages.

Hope For Children In Crisis Ministries is so much interested in caring for and supporting AIDS Orphans, and the Disadvantaged Children to acquire free education, Feeding them and also giving them Moral support for hopefulness and understanding specialized sustainable children focused initiatives.

Am Naigaga Naume born on 23rd July 1969 at Bwayuya Village in Bulange Subcounty in the current Namutumba District. . My father was the late Ntende Benefansi (retired soldier) who died when I was only 16 years and mother was Namukose Getrude (peasant)who died two years after the death of my father. Am the first born of the four children of my mother although my father had married two wives.

By profession am a primary teacher.

My father died in 1986 and the mother died in 1988. By that time, I had just finished my senior four. The step mother started becoming a problem to us, we were seriously mistreated, she was ever promising to make us follow our mum and yet it is believed that this step mom was behind the death of our mother.

We tried to endure but after my young sister surviving poison, we organized to move away and start a new life.

I decided to go and rent a small room where we had to stay. My sisters were in lower classes, I had to put my education on a standstill and start looking for a job in order for life to move on. I landed on a job a few months and started working as a licensed teacher from where I based to go to Kyambogo University to professionalize.

Nothing was given to us such that life can move on since we were all girls. Life later became so hard, my young sisters later went and married.

At the age of 28, I joined the college for a certificate in primary teaching and in that very year I got married and start a family.

In 2010, one of my sisters passed away and the following year my husband also went.I started life again with my four children Nankwaga Hellen, Nabirye Miriam, Wako Derick and kyakoba Teddy.

After I later adopted three children who were suffering when they were still very young. In 2013 I adopted more two to make them five, by that time, I was able to get the little I can to facilitate them. In 2015, more children were identified and joined us, In that very year I registered it as a Community based organization in the name of Hope Orphans Centre Iganga with 12 children.

The member went on increasing and the church joined me and other well wishers to meet the needs of these children who we were keeping in an apartment that we were renting. Later the friends joined us to advise on how we can make this mission moving on and rendered us support to create an ideal life for the children.

In 2017, we went again for renewal of the registration with 22 children under our care, we also started plans of constructing a permanent home for

these children.

 

In 2018, the number of children increased to 28 after a number joining us. We also started getting some funding for the construction of the home, we started by growing some crops which were sold for money to start with. Later that year, we managed to buy one acre of land, construction started immediately. By early 2019, these building we're ready although not is a very good condition one could expect but at least they had got somewhere to spend night.

We started with the big house you usually see with red iron sheets and the other on the other side. In May that very year, the Brown mission society blessed us with another piece of land equivalent to half an acre located adjascent the organization.

In early 2020,after making brick, we managed to set up a poultry unit and a kitchen.

Currently we are having 38 children under our care with me as the director and kabweru Kenneth Ivan as the assistant director.

 

I feel sad and shade tears whenever I remember where I came from and what I went through and it’s not my desire to see any child going through that life.

I know it is very hard but nothing is permanent. Sometimes the Lord knows how to change things. Read Mathew 21:42.

In mid-2020, our sister in Christ from Australia blessed u with another piece of land equivalent to an acre. We managed to also get mattresses, bed sheets, pillows and beds for each child under our care, we also got five sewing machines so our children are being equipped with tailoring and fashion design skills/

At the moment, we need to establish a foundation school and a vocational institution purposely to equip the needy with real life skills for survival, we need to do renovation of the hope buildings and also other structures to accommodate more needy people and also established other income generating projects so that the organization stop relying on donations all the time not forgetting the day to day needs say food, water, medical care, soap, clothes, shoes among many more.

KABWERU KENNETH IVAN

KABWERU KENNETH BIO DATA

He is a Ugandan national born in 1994. He holds a certificate in information technology from platinum ICT and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Nsaka University majoring in Accounting. He currently works with JK Computer Service Centre and is the assistant director of the organization.

He is currently the assistant director of the organization.

 

THE ORGANISATION

The organization cares for 38 people of whom 36 are children from the age of two years to 17, one lame man and one old woman. All the children are in primary level except one girl who is in secondary. These children depend of us for food, shelter, water, clothes, medical care, and education among others.

Shelter

The Hope Orphans Centre Iganga orphanage has got a permanent home. this home was established with the help of our friends who contributed little by little. the children started living happily in their new home in January 2019 although they are not yet finished.

This place has got two permanent blocks. the first block has a room for boys and another room for boys, the second has the eating rooms and the store.

Food

The children at Hope Orphans Centre Iganga (HOCI) get their food from well-wishers and at times from the gardens,

The crops in the garden are at times destroyed by sunshine more especially during the period between November and March. During this period, there is no any single crop that can grow due to a lot of sunshine that we experience.

However there is no one in our country who can help these children with food. They are basically dependent on donations to live.

Education

The organization has a number of ongoing school children.

These children get their school fees from the well wishers and at times we get it for them after a serious struggle.

The children move 2 kilometers every morning to reach the nearby school. The quality of education that they get from this school is of low quality as we put aside the long distance that they move every day.

On matters concerning academics, the teachers at this school are ever on strike due to their dissatisfaction with the government. This limits their concentration in class and the children continues to perform very poor.

Health

In the area, there is only one health centre called Lubira Health Centre III which is located 3 kilometers away from the area. This is a state owned enterprise and the doctors are always on strike and absent.

When one goes to visit the doctor, if you get a chance to find one there, the medicine will never be there.

Therefore, it is best to start a new clinic in the area.

Spirituality

On matters pertaining to spirituality, the knowledge of God and His son Jesus Christ is very low. There are no churches within the area. We move about 2 kilometer to reach the nearby church for prayers. I think it is high time that we reach them with the pure Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Water

The area does not have clean water for drinking. People are using the waters that are running or the stagnant waters for drinking. This is causing a lot of disease. Some of them wash their clothes in these waters and still drink the same waters.

Fistula

There are cases of fistula among women and girls in the area. When a woman is giving birth, it can result in a small tear in her bladder. The woman or girl is unable to control her urine. Oftentimes, these women become outcasts. however, various organizations have stepped in to help but still some of them are very poor to the extend that they reach hospitals where they can be treated from.

HIV/AIDS

There are many cases of HIV/AIDS in the area. This is normally a sexually transmitted disease. One acquires it through blood contact with an effected person. It’s not true that everyone who acquires it has ever got involved in such practices; some get it by sharing sharp instruments, in accidents and some medical workers can make these children affected by the disease

 

ACHIEVEMENTS OF HOPE ORPHANS CENTRE –IGANGA

EDUCATION

Education and termly school fees: Normally, the home has continuously provided proper education through sending the gathered children under our care to school as most of the children are in primary that have been supported in both government schools and others being sponsored to attend private school as well as educational scholastic materials. The Centre has continued to provide termly fees to children under our care without stopping. However, the challenge is that sometimes resources are not enough to cover up all the termly fees in time. Besides, the children move a long distance of 2 kilometers to reach the nearby school.

Continuous provision of scholastic materials. It is to our concern that every child deserves a right to access to scholastic materials to release his/her God- Given talent into good use. Normally, we have managed to continuously provide scholastic materials like books, pens and mathematical sets e.t.c before the beginning of every new term for the children to return back to school. The Centre has managed to provide a few school bags to some children under our care in addition to the scholastic materials. However, the challenge is that at the home, there is limited reading materials say holiday packages, text books and reading charts hence the thinking capacity of the children under our care as well as uplifting their performance to the top.

On the issue of playing materials; the home has managed to get a few play materials say dolls and balls though there is still limited / less materials for the children to use say netball, volley ball, chess, board games among others as the bible says let the little children enjoy while still young because when one grows, among things change.

BASIC NEEDS

Continuous provision of basic needs; The organization has continued to provide basic needs of life to the needy children and widows in the community since the Centre started up to date. These include toothpaste, soap, petroleum body jerry and among other items that are useful to the daily human life.

Continuous provision of clothing and shoes; As every after a term spent at school, the children at the home are provided with new clothing and shoes as those that they have been using get tone and cannot be repaired time after time unless replaced with new ones. The Centre has managed to provide 32 pairs of school shoes and 32 sandles to the needy children at home. We most times appeal to the good Samaritans with a giving heart to contribute the little they have to make this happen as this is now the biggest challenge at home amidst absence of enough funds to cater for the children’s clothing and shoes.

Continuous feeding of the children at the home: Normally on a daily basis, the home provides a well-spaced/balanced meal from breakfast, lunch to supper/ dinner) to the protected children under our care for a better health living. However, the challenge has been that, the home still lacks enough funds to purchase timely foodstuffs that are prepared at the home as sometimes meals are skipped to reach every child in the community.

Purchase of tables and chairs. The Centre has managed to acquire 5 plastic chairs and a big a big office counter and six benches that is being used by the children to have their meals in a comfortable environment. We thank God for what we have at the home even though we still need more tables and plastic chairs to cater for the available and ever increasing number of needy children that are being identified everyday within the community.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Community visits; The Centre has continuously visited community members especially the widows and single mothers as well as elderly people in a way of giving them hope and courage to live a happy life. This has been done in a way to provide relief help in terms of food stuffs, moral support among others.

Clean-up outreaches Normally, the home carries out communal work and gives back to the community through a sensitization program carried out by our team and the few volunteers at the home. This has contributed a positive change in the few homes that have been reached out too for example caring for the widows and elderly who are in the community where the home is being located as these are no longer in position to cater for their needs and cannot even wash for themselves since they have no one around them to care for them.

Identifying and registering new children. Normally, the children’s home management has continued to identify new orphans especially those in the alarming state who are mostly without caretakers or guardians these include Nabaigwa Sandra, Nkaire Souce Peter, Wanzige Reagan, and Nangobi Shanita. Despite of the challenges, we have managed to reach at least a quite a number of the children who need in different aspects of life as every child deserves the best in life and for a vast happy future.

LAND

The Centre has managed to purchase another piece of land on addition to the one acre that was purchased in 2018 in preparation for the expansion of the home that will be more spaced to cater for the children who are under our care and also the proposed projects for the organization. The land purchased stretches 95 fits in by 135 fits and it is located adjacent the organization. This land has been also used for agriculture as we prepare to construct new structures.

AGRICULTURE

Introduction of income generating projects

The Centre has managed to establish new projects to help in raising extra incomes that are used to cater/cover other expenditures that may be encountered in the due course and also to try achieving self sustainability. However, there have been a number of challenges faced while managing these projects.

These projects include;

Chicken project; The organization has managed to rear a few chickens which are local in breed. They are 159 in number with an aim of getting eggs for the children and also to generate income for the organization to meet the unexpected expanses and also needs of the children under our care. However, these birds are being attacked by diseases and some thieves who were threatening us, good enough we managed to get a security guard who is providing us with security during the night hours.

Vegetable growing; The Centre has established a small demonstration plot on the newly purchased land where different varieties are being grown on the piece of land as a way to add on food supply that is mostly purchased from the market. These vegetables ranges from egg plants, sukuma wiki and solnum that have been grown for the children’s balanced deity while at the home.

Tree planting; In response to climate change, the Centre has embarked on tree planting on the purchased land as a way to preserve the environment and the earth at large as climate change cases are so rampant all around the world. We believe that the trees planted especially the fruit trees will be of great use to the children as at the same time will be providing shades during seasons and wind breakers during rainy season.

Crop growing; Despite the little space we have for agriculture, the organization has managed to hire pieces of land and grow a number of crops. We hired two acres of land for four years and grew a few food and root crops say ground nuts, sweet potatoes, cassava and maize. However there is a challenge of unfavorable climatic conditions say drought which was experienced for some months. Under this period, crop growing goes to a standstill

 

CURRENT CHALLENGES FACED AT HOPE ORPHANS CENTRE-IGANGA

1. The organization has registered significant achievements amidst the many challenges it faces and not limited too;-

2. First and foremost, the children move a long distance of nearly 2 kilometers to reach the nearby school. This is a very long distance to moved by a child of three years to move every morning and evening. We are of the view to establish a foundation school such that the children under our care get education right from the centre.

3. There is limited reading and school materials for example holiday packages, monthly packages, books among others of the children under our care especially to those who are being sponsored to attend school.

4. Limited monthly necessities/ basic needs at the Centre is a challenge despite of the efforts being used to aid in the supply of basic needs of life

5. Insufficient medication at the Centre that is carried out on weekly and monthly basis but this has been limited due to absence of enough funds to cover the costs of both medical check-up and treatment.

6. Limited playing materials and playing uniforms for the protected children at the home for example absence of both netball and footballs for the children, game boards among others all to enhance the thinking capacity of these children.

7. Absence of land for expansion on farming and animal rearing

8. Inadequate funding to pay workers

9. Lacks of enough office stationary as well as office requirements say computer, bookshelf and other materials.

10. Absence of organization website to update on the ongoing organization projects.

11. There of prolonged drought that makes our crops sometimes to dry up while still in the garden immature.

12. Floods experienced at the end of the year which has destroyed everything and let us in misery.

 

OUR PLANS AND NEEDS BOTH LONG TERM AND SHORT TERM

We are of the view to hire five acres of land to grow more food and vegetables so as to ensure food security.

This has been considered vital as an attempt to cut off the children under our care from moving a long distance of nearly 2 kilometers to reach the nearby school. For more about this, refer to the hope junior school proposal.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Hope Junior School will be a foundation nursery and primary school located at Lubira village along Idudi-Busembatia road just 500 meters off the main road after Bumoozi Police Post in Buyanga Sub-County, Iganga District (Uganda) Africa.

In the area, the only school found nearby is located 2 kilometers far away from the orphanage. This is a long distance to be moved by a child of three years every day. This has made many poor children in the area to forget about education, on addition to that, the school doesn’t offer quality education as teachers are ever on strikes for low salary.

After an intensive research for guite a long period,the founders of Hope Orphans Centre-Iganga (HOCI), we so that there is a high need for high quality performance in education sector in Lubira parish and Buyende District at large. The education sector has really lacked people who are active in education that is why we had to come up with such an idea to develop the minds of the needy community.

For the beginning, Hope Junior School will start from nursery to primary four and we shall continue with the next class year after year. This is because we want to build a good and academically soundable foundation school in the region and Uganda at large.

Since God is head leadership, Hope Junior School is setup on church basis and we are of a view to have pastors teaching children the Christian faith.

Hope Junior School is setup to bring the education services near and also to offer free education to the needy community of Uganda.Many orphans in the area have failed to get education to to lack of school fees and facilities plus the long distances that they move to reach the nearby school, so to curb that, we had to start a better service provider that the community is lacking.

What a sorry sight for successive generations of the professed followers of Jesus to say, regarding their stewardship of divine truth: "Here, Master, is the truth you committed to us a hundred or a thousand years ago. We have lost nothing; we have faithfully preserved all you gave us; we have allowed no changes to be made in that which you taught us; here is the truth you gave us." But such a plea concerning spiritual indolence will not justify the barren steward of truth in the presence of the Master. In accordance with the truth committed to your hands will the Master of truth require a reckoning.

^178:1.15 The revelation I have made to you is a living revelation, and I desire that it shall bear appropriate fruits in each individual and in each generation in accordance with the laws of spiritual growth, increase, and adaptative development. From generation to generation this gospel must show increasing vitality and exhibit greater depth of spiritual power. It must not be permitted to become merely a sacred memory, a mere tradition about me and the times in which we now live.

The Everlasting Gospel

"And now I declare to you that I, if I be lifted up on earth and in your lives, will draw all men to myself and into the fellowship of my Father.

  178:1.11 Remember that you are commissioned to preach this gospel of the kingdom -- the supreme desire to do the Father's will coupled with the supreme joy of the faith realization of sonship with God -- and you must not allow anything to divert your devotion to this one duty.

  ^99:3.9 Religion can be kept free from unholy secular alliances only by:

1. A critically corrective philosophy.

5. Prevention of fanaticism by the compensations of the scientific mental attitude.

  ^99:3.10 Religionists, as a group, must never concern themselves with anything but religion, albeit any one such religionist, as an individual citizen, may become the outstanding leader of some social, economic, or political reconstruction movement.

  ^99:3.11 It is the business of religion to create, sustain, and inspire such a cosmic loyalty in the individual citizen as will direct him to the achievement of success in the advancement of all these difficult but desirable social services.

I tell you that the children of yesteryear are walking in the funeral of the era which they created for themselves. They are pulling a rotting rope that may break soon and cause them to drop into a forgotten abyss. I say that they are living in homes with weak foundations. There is no sin in having honest possessions on earth provided your treasure is in heaven, for where your treasure is there will your heart be also. There is a great difference between wealth which leads to covetousness and selfishness and that which is held and dispensed in the spirit of stewardship by those who have an abundance of this world's goods, and who so bountifully contribute to the support of those who devote all their energies to the work of the kingdom. Many of you who are here and without money are fed and lodged in yonder tented city because liberal men and women of means have given funds to your host, David Zebedee, for such purposes.

  ^165:4.6 "But never forget that, after all, wealth is unenduring. The love of riches all too often obscures and even destroys the spiritual vision. Fail not to recognize the danger of wealth's becoming, not your servant, but your master."

 

Whatever else may concern the wealthy in the judgment, at least three questions must be answered by all who acquire great wealth, and these questions are:

Proposed Projects:

1./ Establish accommodation for full time devoted agents and representatives of our Creator serving this day and generation and their families who share in common as did Jesus arranged for the first  Apostles during the times of his public ministry.

2./ To build Student Modules for 2 Week - 1 Month - 6 Months - 1 Year Sabbaticals to spend time alone with God in the tabernacles of nature while embracing the knowledge of all previous Epochal Revelation and attempting communion with God through the standard methods of evolutionary revelation (auto-revelation) enhanced by the previous Periodic Epochal Revelations thus acquiring possession of knowledge through service and living faith, while we attain an implicit faith, a whole-souled belief, in the certain triumph of righteousness. 

  ^167:6.6 When it is not possible to worship God in the tabernacles of nature, men should do their best to provide houses of beauty, sanctuaries of appealing simplicity and artistic embellishment, so that the highest of human emotions may be aroused in association with the intellectual approach to spiritual communion with God. Truth, beauty, and holiness are powerful and effective aids to true worship. 

3./ To establish a Conferencing Center able to hold 250 Attendees for the promotion of the 5th Epochal Revelation and the spread of the Gospel of Jesus as he presented and demonstrated these teachings on Urantia  at the time of 4th Epochal Revelation of God to the human family.

4./ To bring Teachers and Leaders to the facility for training from other National Families of the world and sending them back to their people as advanced human teachers of truth to provide leadership for the world for the impending world-wide social reconstruction and economic reorganization. Institutional religion cannot afford inspiration and provide leadership in this impending world-wide social reconstruction and economic reorganization because it has unfortunately become more or less of an organic part of the social order and the economic system which is destined to undergo reconstruction. Only the real religion of personal spiritual experience as taught by Jesus can function helpfully and creatively in the present crisis of civilization providing the spirit-born souls to quickly supply the leadership and inspiration requisite for the social, moral, economic, and political reorganization of the world.

5./ To register as a World Wide WWOOF community as a means of attracting physical help in gardening, animal husbandry, construction and maintenance projects, offering, in return, accommodations as well as spiritual guidance to this growing international family of world citizens.

6./ To register under the Food Forest Certification Program and establish a Food Forest to feed a growing Community.

Social Harmony
A social group of human beings in co-ordinated working harmony stands for a force far greater than the simple sum of its parts. 133:5.6

^154:4.2 Many intelligent and well-meaning men, even in the more enlightened age of these revelations, maintain that modern civilization could not have been built upon the teachings of Jesus -- and they are partially right. But all such doubters forget that a much better civilization could have been built upon his teachings, and sometime will be. This world has never seriously tried to carry out the teachings of Jesus on a large scale, notwithstanding that halfhearted attempts have often been made to follow the doctrines of so-called Christianity.

 

^195:9.6 Modern men and women of intelligence evade the religion of Jesus because of their fears of what it will do to them -- and with them. And all such fears are well founded. The religion of Jesus does, indeed, dominate and transform its believers, demanding that men dedicate their lives to seeking for a knowledge of the will of the Father in heaven and requiring that the energies of living be consecrated to the unselfish service of the brotherhood of man.

^103:5.11 Spiritual growth is greatest where all external pressures are at a minimum. "Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." 

^92:5.13 The future of Urantia will doubtless be characterized by the appearance of teachers of religious truth -- the Fatherhood of God and the fraternity of all creatures. But it is to be hoped that the ardent and sincere efforts of these future prophets will be directed less toward the strengthening of interreligious barriers and more toward the augmentation of the religious brotherhood of spiritual worship among the many followers of the differing intellectual theologies which so characterize Urantia of Satania.

The URANTIA Book’s Prophecy

In one of last pages of The URANTIA Book, the Paper’s supernal author states: “What a transcendent service if, through this revelation, the Son of Man should be recovered from the tomb of traditional theology and be presented as the living Jesus to the church that bears his name, and to all other religions!” (2090 C). This statement is nothing less than the purpose of the revelation, the raison d’etre of The URANTIA Book.

This is the manifestation of Jesus’ promised “enhanced demonstration of righteousness” and the fulfillment of The URANTIA Book’s prophecy concerning the advent of the future teachers and leaders. These, having been born of the spirit, depending “solely” on Jesus and his teachings, and who will “exclusively devote” themselves to the spiritual regeneration of mankind, shall “supply the leadership and inspiration requisite for the social, moral, economic, and political reorganization of the world” (2082 D). The New Revelation of Jesus is nothing less than the second part of the Fifth Epochal Revelation, the promised compliment to its “expanded revelation of truth” found in The URANTIA Book, also promised by Jesus. It is at least the “enhanced demonstration of righteousness” for our time (ref. 1914 C).

A beautiful vision of how this transcendent service will be actualized is given elsewhere in the same Paper, especially in its sections 9, “Christianity’s Problem” and 10, “The Future”. There we see quite clearly that a spiritual movement is being foretold. If my timing is correct it should begin to take place in about the year A.D. 2021. But whether this dating is correct or not, we have been assured that “the revelation of God to the world, in and through Jesus, shall not fail” (2097 A).

What is being pictured in those pages is a worldwide, spirit-backed project with a goal of nothing short of the “spiritual regeneration of men” (2082 D) . And this project will be world changing: it will “quickly supply the leadership and inspiration requisite for the social, moral, economic, and political reorganization of the world” (2082 D - 2083 A).

Regardless of nationality, their garden cities will rise on earth, first one than another, to form the nucleus of a new, single Urantia race and human family. Their new world prayer will be a guiding light.

God's forgiveness is made actually available and is personally experienced by man just in so far as he forgives his fellows. Man will not truly forgive his fellows unless he loves them as himself. To thus love your neighbor as yourself is the highest ethics. Moral conduct, true righteousness, becomes, then, the natural result of such love.
 
It therefore is evident that the true and inner religion of the kingdom unfailingly and increasingly tends to manifest itself in practical avenues of social service. Jesus taught a living religion that impelled its believers to engage in the doing of loving service. But Jesus did not put ethics in the place of religion. He taught religion as a cause and ethics as a result.

Human pedagogy proceeds from the simple to the complex. The Urantia Revelation begins with the more complex and goes on to the consideration of the more simple. Instead of beginning with man reaching up for God, the Urantia Papers begin with God—reaching down and finding man.

The well-meant efforts of Jesus' early followers to restate his teachings so as to make them the more acceptable to certain nations, races, and religions, only resulted in making such teachings the less acceptable to all other nations, races, and religions.

Ibadan orphans and rehabilitation centre is now 9 years old. This centre started with 8 poor children and now the centre has 80 poor boys and girls. We thank God for taking care of them and also thank our good friends for standing with them God bless you so much.

Some are children whose parents died of hiv/aids some are affected by hiv/aids. Some are abandoned, children.
