“Agriculture is the biggest way that humans impact our landscape.”  By unwise agricultural practices, humanity has lost carbon from the land, into the atmosphere, and created drylands.  Put carbon back into the soil, by mulching, the water will come back.

Bring that carbon back down and put it in the ground.  We cannot achieve Drawdown without bio-sequestration.

Storing carbon in soil:  is done by farmers and ranchers.  Soil can hold x more carbon than plants and air combined.  ability to store carbon in soil in a relatively short period of time.  
30 countries signed pledge to sequester carbon in soil, radical reduction in toxic pesticides, GMO’s and toxic pesticides.  India, US and China did not sign.  US pulled out of the Paris agreement.  Switching to renewable energies will not alter amount of carbon we have put into atmosphere.  Stopping greenhouse emissions, legacy load of carbon dioxide will be there.  Reducing emissions is not enough.  

Draw-down is the solution that makes sense for humanity.  Start to farm and grow our plants and trees in another way.

Food forests mimic nature, are outstanding examples of earth stewardship, and arguably the most natural and sustainable food production method available. They are low-maintenance, produce a huge diversity of food and habitat, and help to regenerate and then maintain the land they are grown on.
