Jesus' Adolescent Struggles and Growth

The discussion also touched on Jesus' physical and intellectual growth, as well as his development into a strong and attractive personality.

Jesus' Family Dynamics and Education

In the meeting, Dr. and Pamela discussed the life of Jesus, focusing on his family dynamics and personal growth. They highlighted how Jesus' family struggled to understand him, particularly his mother, Mary, who had different expectations for his life. Despite this, Jesus maintained his own path, dedicating himself to his work as a carpenter and self-study, eventually deciding to pursue his mission as a teacher of truth. The discussion also touched on the importance of education for girls, a perspective that Jesus and his mother held.

Jesus's Political and Religious Dilemmas

In the meeting, Dr. discussed the political and religious tensions in Jerusalem and Judea around the 17th year (A.D. 11). A strong Nationalist party, the Zealots, emerged, advocating for immediate political revolt rather than waiting for the Messiah. Dr. also highlighted Jesus's refusal to join the Zealots, which led to his estrangement from his uncle, Simon, who had joined the group. The situation in Nazareth became more complicated when a wealthy Jew, Isaac, offered to support Jesus's family if he would lead the Nazareth patriots. Jesus, at 17, faced difficult decisions regarding his spiritual leadership and the involvement of religion in political matters.

Jesus' Nationalist Dilemma and Family Ties

In the meeting, Pamela and Dr. discussed the challenges faced by Jesus in his early life. Jesus' family and community urged him to join the Nationalist cause, but he changed his mind and sought guidance from his old teacher, the Shazam. Jesus had to balance his religious fealty and national loyalty, which led to turmoil in his family and community. He eventually stated his position, maintaining that his first duty was to his family, and he could not clear his conscience by releasing himself from the obligation thrust upon him. The situation was resolved with the help of the Shazam and James, who spoke on Jesus' behalf. The incident left a lasting impact on Nazareth, with a division of sentiment regarding Jesus.

Messenger's Visit and Jerusalem Trip

In the meeting, Dr. discussed a story about a visit from a messenger dispatched by his elder brother Emmanuel during a night at Jerusalem. Rodney clarified that the messenger's visit was about the family's business. They also discussed a trip to Jerusalem, where Jesus and James passed through Samaria, saw many strange sights, and talked about personal, family, and national problems. James was preparing to assume responsibility for the family so that Jesus could begin his mission. They also discussed the Paschal lamb, which was a sacrificial lamb brought to the priests and then taken back home for supper. The conversation ended with a discussion about the bones of the family of Nicanor, who made the gates of the temple in Jerusalem.

Jesus' Adolescent Years in Nazareth

In the meeting, Dr. discussed Jesus' adolescent years from ages 15 to 20, focusing on his time in Nazareth. Jesus became increasingly aware of his pre-existence and mission to reveal the Heavenly Father to the world. He had to balance his family responsibilities with his growing spiritual understanding, including declining to join the nationalist movement in Nazareth. Jesus continued to work as a carpenter, support his family, and prepare his younger brother James to eventually take over the household. The family faced financial difficulties and the death of their younger brother Amos, but Jesus maintained a hopeful and practical outlook. By the end of the 19th year, Jesus and Mary were getting along better, with Jesus becoming more of a father figure to the children.

  ^144:2.2 "Prayer is entirely a personal and spontaneous expression of the attitude of the soul toward the spirit; prayer should be the communion of sonship and the expression of fellowship.   ^144:2.4 "Which of you who is a father, if his son asks unwisely, would hesitate to give in accordance with parental wisdom rather than in the terms of the son's faulty petition? If the child needs a loaf, will you give him a stone just because he unwisely asks for it? If your son needs a fish, will you give him a watersnake just because it may chance to come up in the net with the fish and the child foolishly asks for the serpent? If you, then, being mortal and finite, know how to answer prayer and give good and appropriate gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the spirit and many additional blessings to those who ask him? Men ought always to pray and not become discouraged.

  ^144:2.5 "Let me tell you the story of a certain judge who lived in a wicked city. This judge feared not God nor had respect for man. Now there was a needy widow in that city who came repeatedly to this unjust judge, saying, `Protect me from my adversary.' For some time he would not give ear to her, but presently he said to himself: `Though I fear not God nor have regard for man, yet because this widow ceases not to trouble me, I will vindicate her lest she wear me out by her continual coming.' These stories I tell you to encourage you to persist in praying and not to intimate that your petitions will change the just and righteous Father above. Your persistence, however, is not to win favor with God but to change your earth attitude and to enlarge your soul's capacity for spirit receptivity.

  ^144:2.6 "But when you pray, you exercise so little faith. Genuine faith will remove mountains of material difficulty which may chance to lie in the path of soul expansion and spiritual progress."

Urantia Book 111:0.6, "The ka was thought to be a superior spirit genius which desired to guide the associated mortal soul into the better paths of temporal living but more especially to influence the fortunes of the human subject in the hereafter. When an Egyptian of this period died, it was expected that his ka would be waiting for him on the other side of the Great River. At first, only kings were supposed to have kas, but presently all righteous men were believed to possess them. One Egyptian ruler, speaking of the ka within his heart, said: “I did not disregard its speech; I feared to transgress its guidance. I prospered thereby greatly; I was thus successful by reason of that which it caused me to do; I was distinguished by its guidance.” Many believed that the ka was “an oracle from God in everybody.” Many believed that they were to “spend eternity in gladness of heart in the favor of the God that is in you.”"

Beloved Father Within

Beloved Father within, Source of wisdom and light,
Teach me to cooperate with You faithfully and without fear.
Help me endure with joy the lessons You place in my path.
Let patience shape my heart and persistence strengthen my will.
May I walk the way You choose for me with humility and gratitude.
When success comes, remind me whose power made it possible.
Fill me with the supreme devotion You already pour into me.
Keep me steadfast until the last earth struggle is over.
Let my decisions honor the trust You have placed in me.
I choose survival. I choose growth. I choose union with You.
Circle by circle, help me rise toward Your approval.
I rest in Your confidence and await, without fear, the roll call of destiny.
I am Yours, and You are mine — now and forever. Amen.

This prayer can be used as a mantra, repeated slowly until its rhythm becomes familiar and its truth begins to live inside you. It reminds the soul that the Adjuster is not a distant presence but an active partner — patient, powerful, and passionately devoted to your eternal becoming.
