Continuing our focus on the early history of our world, in this episode of Study Group we learn about a fascinating pair of individuals whose gifts to this world are truly beyond measure. The legacy of their heroic efforts is still with us today. The story of Adamson and Ratta is not found in our history books or in the Bible, but echoes of their extraordinary doings can be found in the ancient myths and legends of many cultures, including India, Europe, and especially the Greeks, who received an extraordinary migration of 375 of the most superior pure-line descendants of Adamson and Ratta around 10,000 BC. This provided the latent potential for the later flowering of the Golden Age of Greek civilization. Adamson was the first-born son of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Subsequent to the default, he elected to stand by his parents and help with the building and defense of the second garden in Mesopotamia. His mate, however, chose to go with their children as they all opted to be taken off the planet. This was not a happy situation for Adamson, and he eventually decided to go on a quest to find the highland center of culture in the north that had been established by Van and Amadon, prior to their dedication to the building of the first Garden. His search was successful, and among these people he discovered the beautiful Ratta, who was the last pure-line descendant of two of the original corporeal staff members from the days of Dalamatia. They soon fell in love, and their many offspring were the progenitors of both the Adamsonite people and the secondary midwayers. They established an enduring center of civilization in the Kopet Dag region of Turkestan, which became a far-reaching source of racial and cultural uplift, much like the second garden in Mesopotamia. Archeologists are only now beginning to uncover the true extent of this “lost civilization.” -CT
 

Continuing in our series of history-focused podcasts, this episode tells the story of Andon and Fonta, the first two human beings. Their story — and our story — really begins with the initial Life Carrier implantation of life on this world. The breaking up of the singular continental land mass of those long-ago days provided the sheltered bays and shallow inland seas that were ideal for the early emergence of marine life. Life evolution over hundreds of millions of years finally culminated in a series of animal mutations that produced the tribe of primates wherein the first two humans, a pair of twins, were born about 1,000,000 years ago. Urantia was then registered as an inhabited world. The story of Andon and Fonta is not only fascinating and truly remarkable, it is also highly endearing. From their early decisions to “live with and for each other” (62:5.8) and to flee from their animal ancestors, to their discovery of how to create fire and thereby survive in a northern climate, to their development of an early language and other creative adaptations, their courage, resilience, and love for each other were an exhibition of the highest traits of character that we associate with being human. Their numerous offspring were the beginning of the Andonite race, which eventually dispersed and migrated to distant lands, both to the west and the east of their original homeland, which was located in a now-submerged region, west of India. A superior tribe in the east included the family that gave birth to the colored races, which occurred simultaneously with the arrival of Caligastia, Urantia’s Planetary Prince, about 500,000 years ago. We’ll pick up the story of the colored races and the fate of Caligastia in future episodes. -CT

Noah, Myth and Reality In this episode of Study Group, we pick up our ongoing investigation of Biblical characters and take a look at the story of Noah, his ark, and the mythical flood that is described in Genesis. This story is particularly interesting because of its parallels to much older myths and truly epic floods that actually occurred in the far distant past. We start with a brief look at Dalamatia, before moving on to the first Garden of Eden, the later flooding of the Euphrates valley, the Epic of Gilgamesh, and finally the Noah story from Genesis. Interestingly, all of these, except for the flooding of the Euphrates valley in 5000 BC, involved the destruction of a degraded culture by submergence. Both Dalamatia and the first garden had been overrun by the lowest types in their region when they sank beneath the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean Sea, respectively. In the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Biblical story of Noah, the entire world is flooded to bring an end to its “wickedness.” Another interesting parallel is Adam’s preservation of the plant and animal species of the first garden by transporting them to the second garden. While this was on land, it is otherwise very similar to the preservation of species in the Biblical Noah and Gilgamesh stories. The Genesis story of Noah was written during the Babylonian captivity and borrowed heavily from both the Epic of Gilgamesh and other much older Sumerian writings that were still in existence in Babylon at the time (around 550 BC). But it’s during the flooding of the Euphrates valley that we discover the true Noah, who lived in Aram near Erech. By keeping careful written records, he was able to predict the increasing severity of the annual floods. He warned his neighbors without success, but built a houseboat for his family and animals which allowed them to survive the catastrophic flood that soon wiped out the entire village of Aram. Like the Noah in Genesis, the Noah of Aram was also a wine maker. -CT
