The day aims at highlighting and addressing the needs and challenges faced by girls, while promoting girls empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights is held in high esteem. The day was launched in 2012 by the United Nations General Assembly, amongst the issues focused on by the International Day of the Girl Child are education, equality, child marriage, access to services regarding puberty and sexual health and addressing issues around gender-based violence. Each year's International Day of the Girl has its own theme. And the theme for this years celebration In Sierra Leone, we sometimes think that skilled work are mainly done by men not women. We need to embark on advocacy to raise the awareness to girls that skill work is very important and it goes with education. We must design and foster the implementation ofgirls empowering policies which will faciltate their growt and development. There is a great need to advocate and draw the attention for the investments in the most pressing needs and opportunities for girls to attain skills for empemploy. As we celebrate this day at #Save #The #Young #Girls #FOUNDATION we have planned to purchase tailoring that will be used to empower this young girls so that they can be self sufficient and empower.
