Human dignity is sacred. Cleanliness restores confidence. Every child carries a spark of Godworthy of care, worthy of love. Kindness is the ministry of the spirit, the way of true brotherhood.

No act of love is ever lost. A little light can lift a life.

In the spirit of love taught by Jesus, we learn that compassion is not only
spoken, it is lived. And so we stepped onto the streets of Kampala where many
walk past but few paused to see.

We found children waking from sleep. Their beds made of socks, their shelter,
the open sky. Yet even here, God's light still rests upon them.

We sat with them, listened to their short and fragile stories. Stories that
broke our hearts but also revealed their strengths.

With simple hands we offered simple kindness. A haircut to restore dignity.
Soap cleans and flesh, clothes to warm them, and food to fill a hungry body and
soul.

As they gathered, their smiles told a story. A story of children who have learned to
survive with little and they still welcome kindness with happiness.

In moments like this, you remember every act of kindness restores the beauty God
placed in every child with every shirt, every pair of shorts.

You could see their confidence return like light coming back into their eyes.
They walk together smile, smiling because even a small promise of a meal
can brighten a child's all day.

Sometimes hope comes in the simplest form like the walk towards the warm
chapat after a long day on streets.

Mental Illness and The Urantia Book: A Different Perspective on Treatment—UBIS Spotlight Series

Presentation by Jim Watkins, followed by audience discussion. Presented January 13, 2024. There are many compelling teachings in The Urantia Book that warrant a closer look. Our guest speakers set the stage with a brief presentation highlighting one of these interesting topics, followed by a discussion with the audience. The ideas and opinions presented are those of the speaker and do not necessarily represent those of Urantia Foundation or Urantia Book International School (UBIS).

Jim discovered The Urantia Book in 1982 while finishing broadcasting school in Hollywood, California. It was happenstance that a fellow employee at a movie theatre introduced Jim to the revelation while discussing, of all things, Adam and Eve.

In 2015, Jim published his first book entitled A New Revelation: Exploring the Urantia Book. One year later, Jim launched a website and 24/7 streaming channel which featured book readings, commentary, articles, and interviews with members of the Urantia community.

When podcasting began gaining popularity in 2017, Jim created The Urantia Radio Podcast. He recently published his second book called The Gift, which explores the potential impact The Urantia Book will have on future society as people become more familiar with its teachings.

Jim has been married for 25 years, and has three grown children and a granddaughter. Now residing in South Florida, he is also a consultant and national radio host at CRN, a Los Angeles-based cable company.
