Eden 3.0

A few months ago, in response to personal reflections regarding how to promote Revelation in a natural setting, the image of a new "Garden of Eden" presented itself using organizational instructions from the Urantia Papers on how life was lived in the first Garden. 

Besides devoting personal study and meditative time in between the physical labor, we hope to make use of our experiences as instructors of spiritual-coaching from various backgrounds, using the Revelation as our basis for all instruction, following the division of responsibilities of the Dalamatia group, while copying the strategies that our own beloved master used in his ministry. 

We envision this to be a learning opportunity for people to attempt to do a present-day version of the vocational educational system at the Garden of Eden.

The Beginning, Who, and What:

Last fall, as artist Patrick Yesh was welcoming us into the Agondonters 606 Soul group, created after his Urantia University Institute course on Soul, he shared that, still in that dream-state that morning, he had a clear imprint of being instructed to bring back the Garden of Eden. I loved it.

I brought his impression back to my husband, Paul, who, when we first bought our 120-acre property thirty seven years ago here in rural Nova Scotia, had hoped to establish a community here of Urantia revelation readers. A couple of years prior, he had come out of such an intimately, spiritually-living and dedicated community, and missed the fellowship of real relationships. He started to get excited!

We just needed to meet and formulate ideas, plans to include attracting the younger generation to join our adventure. We also emphasized that it is a living adventure in brotherhood in the garden in a daily relationship working the soil together, and not another zoom group.

…and Why?

We began with just the three of us, Patrick, Paul and I, and now expanded our group to include people from Baker City, Oregon, Denver, Colorado, France, New Brunswick, Ireland, and Kabale, Uganda. We are each committed to learning what the Father’s will is in this for us as individuals and as a group being so widespread! We can only believe that God will support providing a spiritual regeneration “station” for those Urantia Book students and readers who wish to recharge their batteries, “far from the madding crowd,” for short stays of one to three months at first, and/or yearn to become true apostles, evangelists and messengers. Who knows? Will this place be considered as a welcoming, safe spot for future celestial visitors? 

(114:1.4 [1251.3])  Some believe that Machiventa will not come to take personal direction of Urantian affairs until the end of the current dispensation. Others hold that the vicegerent Prince may not come, as such, until Michael sometime returns to Urantia as he promised when still in the flesh. Still others, including this narrator, look for Melchizedek’s appearance any day or hour.

Will we be ready?

Back in 1987, at the first Urantia Book Conference we attended in Brunswick, Maine, Paul had brought down a model of the yurts they used to live in (which he and a good friend built and for which we now have the plans!), but at that time there were no interest-takers. “Had “the hour not yet come?”

Where:

Paul and I donated our land to The Eden Project, so the property may be used as a site for this teaching and working garden, 100 acres left (mortgage-free), in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, and our New Brunswick partner has contributed by delivering two campers to add to our three bedrooms here. Our two Oregon members have extensive watershed management and perma-culture experience (I know. Paul and I are late to the game in our 70s!), but it turns out we are surrounded here by perma-culture practitioners as well! Yay!

When:

As you can see, short steps in progress have been made. We need a “start-up” crew! We welcome those who wish to be on the ground floor of this endeavor. During winter we continue to plan. Nothing big will be seen soon, but we believe our spirit teams are participating and are gracefully bringing us to new people and to new ideas. At some point in the not too distant future, we will have an Edenic culture here and either yurts or small houses on the property for students of all ages. 

How:

We are currently connecting with and hope to become a part of the WWOOF program—WorldWide Organization of Organic Farmers—which brings those from anywhere in the world who wish to have a rural farming experience to participate in such life, while working for their room and board.

This spring/summer, we are looking at construction of a small chicken coop, garden planting, and starting steps to get property ready for permaculture practices.

Remember! The garden took how long to establish! And we are just planting the seeds, which we are passing on through our land and wisdom into a movement which will outlive us and, like the original garden of Eden, will have reverberations far beyond what we can see today.
