The New Birth And Eternal Life

Yes, we all are sons of God - children of God. But you, a son of God, have to willingly, gladly, and wholeheartedly accept God's offer of salvation before you can experience the new birth. You have to accept the status of sonship. Every human being, by just being a human being alone, is a son of God. But you are not yet saved - you are not yet a born again, born from above, born of the spirit, spirit-born son of God if by his grace through faith, you have not wholeheartedly embraced God's love and made a personal commitment to walk in his love. The salvation process is what really gets you to accept your status of divine sonship with God. This acceptance cannot and will not be forced upon you.

Being a child or a son of God is automatic. But salvation is not automatic. Salvation is a free gift that you receive. It will not and cannot be forced upon you. When you receive salvation, you are spirit-born, you receive the baptism of the spirit Thought Adjuster, the still, small voice that is already living inside of you, in your mind - in the superconscious level of your mind, the Holy of Holies within you. Then you become a "faith son of God."

At salvation, your soul is immersed in the spiritual waters of God. You experience the new birth - the baptism of the spirit. You receive deliverance from evil, and you enter into the spiritual kingdom of God. Before salvation, you were just a son of God who had not yet been spiritually baptized into the spiritual kingdom of God. It is the gift of salvation that makes you to be a "faith son of God" and that enables you to actually and practically have eternal life. This eternal life is a spiritual God-kind of life that enables you to literally live forever in love, light, righteousness, and eternal service to God and to all of existences. Without eternal life, you - your soul cannot live forever. At some point, the soul will cease to exist (the soul literally dies - cessation of creature existence). To live forever, an individual must have eternal life.

Jesus, in UB 148:4.8 said, "...The new birth—the baptism of the spirit—is essential to deliverance from evil and necessary for entrance into the kingdom of heaven, but none of this detracts from the fact that man is the son of God..."

Urantia Book Paper 40, Section 6, "The Faith Sons of God"

UB 40:6.4

"1. You are sons of spiritual promise, faith sons; you have accepted the status of sonship. You believe in the reality of your sonship, and thus does your sonship with God become eternally real."

Urantia Book Paper 142, Section 6, "The Visit with Nicodemus"

UB 142:6.4

"Jesus answered Nicodemus: “Verily, verily, I say to you, Nicodemus, except a man be born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Then replied Nicodemus: “But how can a man be born again when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born.”"

UB 142:6.5

"Jesus said: “Nevertheless, I declare to you, except a man be born of the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. But you should not marvel that I said you must be born from above. When the wind blows, you hear the rustle of the leaves, but you do not see the wind—whence it comes or whither it goes—and so it is with everyone born of the spirit. With the eyes of the flesh you can behold the manifestations of the spirit, but you cannot actually discern the spirit.”"

Urantia Book Paper 40, Section 7, "Father-Fused Mortals"

UB 40:7.1

"The sending of Adjusters, their indwelling, is indeed one of the unfathomable mysteries of God the Father. These fragments of the divine nature of the Universal Father carry with them the potential of creature immortality. Adjusters are immortal spirits, and union with them confers eternal life upon the soul of the fused mortal."

You receive the gift of eternal life, potentially speaking. I say potentially speaking because this gift of eternal life cannot be fully activated in your life NOT UNTIL after your fusion - eternal oneness with your spirit, your indwelling spirit Thought Adjuster. Before fusion, it is possible for someone to lose his salvation. After fusion, it is impossible. In the Urantia Book Paper 111:3.1, we see that it is impossible to lose your salvation AFTER fusion. Before fusion, the possibility exists.

UB 111:3.1

"...Even after survival the ascending mortal still retains this prerogative of choosing to reject eternal life; at any time before fusion with the Adjuster the evolving and ascending creature can choose to forsake the will of the Paradise Father. Fusion with the Adjuster signalizes the fact that the ascending mortal has eternally and unreservedly chosen to do the Father’s will."

Urantia Book Paper 49, Section 6, "Terrestrial Escape"

UB 49:6.7

"Thus are the sleeping survivors of a planetary age repersonalized in the dispensational roll calls. But with regard to the nonsalvable personalities of a realm, no immortal spirit is present to function with the group guardians of destiny, and this constitutes cessation of creature existence. While some of your records have pictured these events as taking place on the planets of mortal death, they all really occur on the mansion worlds."
