The primary interpretation I have found is that Jesus was saying that John was part of an era which lacked all the privileges the current era was experiencing; that it refers to Jeremiah where a new heart is promised; or that it indicates that John failed in his mission to turn the Jews to repentance. How do you interpret this passage? If you have recommendations on books, articles, websites that tackle this question, I'd love to see them!
