156:5.2 It was during this same sermon that Jesus made use of his first and only parable having to do with his own trade – carpentry. In the course of his admonition to “Build well the foundations for the growth of a noble character of spiritual endowments,” he said: “In order to yield the fruits of the spirit, you must be born of the spirit. You must be taught by the spirit and be led by the spirit if you would live the spirit-filled life among your fellows. But do not make the mistake of the foolish carpenter who wastes valuable time squaring, measuring, and smoothing his worm-eaten and inwardly rotting timber and then, when he has thus bestowed all of his labor upon the unsound beam, must reject it as unfit to enter into the foundations of the building which he would construct to withstand the assaults of time and storm. Let every man make sure that the intellectual and moral foundations of character are such as will adequately support the superstructure of the enlarging and ennobling spiritual nature, which is thus to transform the mortal mind and then, in association with that re-created mind, is to achieve the evolvement of the soul of immortal destiny. Your spirit nature – the jointly created soul – is a living growth, but the mind and morals of the individual are the soil from which these higher manifestations of human development and divine destiny must spring. The soil of the evolving soul is human and material, but the destiny of this combined creature of mind and spirit is spiritual and divine.”

Springtime Growth
The beauty of the day begins.
The season now is truly Spring.
Thriving life surrounds with blossoms.
The landscape’s truly turning awesome.

Everywhere you look, you see,
Flowers blooming naturally.
Growth occurs from every crack.
Farmers plant where the soil is black.

Spring’s a time of growth and change.
Look inside, extend your range.
The time that’s spent in contemplation
Helps survival’s destination.

We are all in this together.
We all experience the same weather.
The sun and moon do rise and set
Upon us all, and our events.

Why are there so many fights?
We need to change? Is that not right?
Peace must come, or all will die.
We’ll self-destruct if we don’t try.

We can do so many things.
I know that if we let peace reign,
We could master ways of living
That surpass the dreams we’re having.

Thank You, Father, peace will come
To this world, we are not dumb!
The darkest hour’s before the dawn.
You’ve shown the way, we hear Your song!

93:5.13 When Melchizedek heard of Abraham’s declaration of war, he went forth to dissuade him but only caught up with his former disciple as he returned victorious from the battle. Abraham insisted that the God of Salem had given him victory over his enemies and persisted in giving a tenth of his spoils to the Salem treasury. The other ninety per cent he removed to his capital at Hebron.

Give
A cooler day yes, it’s still Spring.
Though it won’t freeze a chill it brings.
It will warm up, that is forecast.
Summer’s heat I know will last.

The peak of summer lies ahead.
Protect my scanner, it turns red.
As weather changes in our lives,
Protect yourself, so you can thrive.

Be prepared, there’s constant change.
Throughout our lives, there’s times of pain.
We learn our wisdom through experience.
Increasing skill gives us significance.

Exercise some time in life
To help another through their strife.
Help them suffer through their pain.
Helping others helps us gain.

You gain in all the things you give.
We’re not born knowing how to live.
It’s a skill we learn by living.
It takes us time to be more giving.

I see improvement in some ways,
But in some areas there’s delay.
We live and breath upon the crest
Of the now of time, like that I guess.

Think about them now, it’s true
That as you think it’s part of you.
It then depends on what you do.
The now can help lead us to truth.
