SOME HUMOUR TO LIGHTEN LIFES BURDENS

Modern society has conditioned you to desperately seek approval and acceptance from others.

Most people optimize their lives based on what others might think or say about who they are and what they do. Their only lever of satisfaction becomes outside approval. To be content with themselves happens only if others are content with them. 

If you are constantly seeking validation from others, you are letting others define who you are. If others think you are great, you will think you are great. If others think you suck, you will think you suck.

Imagine what a never ending battle that is. Your life literally becomes a spectator sport. You lose perspective on your sense of worth and leave it in the hands of people who likely don’t even care about you. You start doing things borne from speculation about how others might react to the things you do. Every action you take is to maximize acceptance and validation…. So much so that you’d rather be wrong with the crowd than right by yourself. 

Rid yourself of this mind virus. Break free and relish in your independence.

Put yourself first. If you constantly seek validation as a source of your self-satisfaction, you will devolve into a people pleaser always putting others before yourself. How can you realize your full potential if you never give yourself the opportunity to understand or discover who you actually are, how you actually feel, and what you actually think?

This is your life. Live it for yourself, not on behalf of others. Who gives a sh*t what others think? Your sense of worth starts from within. You are an individual. You are independent. You have the genes of a warrior destined to conquer.

Transcending the need for external approval starts from within. Don’t listen to other people’s expectations. Live up to your own expectations. Stop comparing yourself to others. Stop looking around you for validation. Be harder on yourself than the world is on you. Your independence will radiate and validation from others (or lack thereof) will become a mere byproduct of living your life the way you’ve chosen to live it.

Four Catholic men and a Catholic woman were having coffee. 

The first 
Catholic man tells his friends, "My son is a priest,

when he walks into a room, everyone calls him 'Father'."

The second

Catholic man chirps, "My son is a Bishop.  

When he walks into a room people call him 'Your Grace'." 

The third 
Catholic gent says, "My son is a Cardinal.  

When he enters a room everyone says 'Your Eminence'." 


The fourth 
Catholic man then says, "My son is the Pope.  

When he walks into a room people call him 'Your Holiness'." 


Since the 
lone Catholic woman was sipping her coffee in silence, the four men give 
her a subtle, "Well....?" 

She proudly 
replies, "I have a daughter,   Slim,  Tall, 38D  breast,  24" waist  and   34"  hips. 
 
When she walks into a room, people say, "Oh My God." 

There is inherent joy in freewill existence, independent of all extraneous influences.

Do you know Angels appreciate and greatly enjoy our efforts in music, art, and real humor. 

We are attempting to understand what ideal humor is able to do for us on Urantia. 

Our humor embraces three general levels of appreciation:

 

  ^48:4.5 1. Reminiscent jests. Quips growing out of the memories of past episodes in one's experience of combat, struggle, and sometimes fearfulness, and ofttimes foolish and childish anxiety. To us, this phase of humor derives from the deep-seated and abiding ability to draw upon the past for memory material with which pleasantly to flavor and otherwise lighten the heavy loads of the present.

 

  ^48:4.6 2. Current humor. The senselessness of much that so often causes us serious concern, the joy at discovering the unimportance of much of our serious personal anxiety. We are most appreciative of this phase of humor when we are best able to discount the anxieties of the present in favor of the certainties of the future.

 

  ^48:4.7 3. Prophetic joy. It will perhaps be difficult for mortals to envisage this phase of humor, but we do get a peculiar satisfaction out of the assurance "that all things work together for good" -- for spirits and morontians as well as for mortals. This aspect of celestial humor grows out of our faith in the loving overcare of our superiors and in the divine stability of our Supreme Directors.
