In answer to one of Peter's many questions, Jesus said, I want to set people free so they can start out fresh as little children on the new and better life. Jesus always insisted that true goodness must be unconscious, not letting the left hand know what the right hand is doing. The three apostles were amazed when they realized that Jesus's religion made no provision for spiritual self-examination.
