Before I do, I’d like to take a moment to outline some experiences and insights I have acquired from my career and then later use these to contextualise and explore ideas put forward by the text. I worked in the medical device manufacturing industry for almost two decades. While there are an almost innumerable host of devices available to assist and promote health they generally fall into two classes: one could be categorised as for external use only [like a wheelchair or blood pressure monitor] the other as internal devices [like hip joints or pacemakers]. The internal devices can equally be divided into two classes: one could be classified as purely mechanical, while the other is a device that would be mechanical PLUS some active ingredient – such devices are known as combination devices. Devices that introduce APIs [Active Pharmacological Ingredients] have a whole universe of additional quality controls on them that govern their function and release.

The manufacture of medical devices is governed by very carefully designed procedures. There is zero room for tinkering with the process. With few exceptions, the manufacturing process has to be performed exactly as prescribed or it goes in the bin. Every device has to be calibrated and the calibration documented. Even the devices used to measure other devices have to be calibrated and their calibration documented. All of this to ensure and prove that the device in question was made to the exact specification required and that the proof of this is documented. Any deviations from the process are reviewed by a suitably qualified board. They will deliberate on the nature, effect and cause of a deviation, how to eliminate that cause going forward, and determine if the item can be safely reworked or if it needs to be disposed of. The exactitude associated with these processes is impressive. It needs to be, lives are at stake. Getting it wrong can lead to serious harm or even death.

In this space, ‘Tinkering’ can only be legitimately carried out in designated research areas by qualified and suitably trained personnel. It is in the research stage that every single control is determined, but only after testing. Every single element of the device is controlled, from the room temperature to who handles it and why – especially is this true of APIs. Inappropriately administered APIs can have lethal consequences. As a result the procedures in place surrounding these substances are significant, and in this I see considerable parallels in the Urantia Book.

I know the parallel is crude but one can see the celestials approach LIFE much as Quality Engineers would approach the handling of an API. There are very specific procedures and suitably qualified personnel associated with it. Devising life vehicles, and establishing life on the spheres, even its evolution from initial inception to the final realisation of Light and Life, is executed according to very specific procedures. However, unlike APIs, LIFE is considered SACRED and is approached by those who are charged with its elaboration and preservation with a holy reverence.

According to the UB, ninety percent of the worlds of space and time are built to according to specific and unchanging procedures and managed by appropriately trained personnel. However, ten percent of the worlds [approximately one in ten worlds] are designated as Life Experimentation Worlds, also known as Decimal Planets. These are essentially the Research and Development Departments of the Heavens. On these worlds, the celestials try to do things a little differently. These adventures/experimentations are thoroughly reviewed before they are signed off on. Consequently, the evolving life experience on these planets differs from other worlds. However, even on worlds such as these, though the expression of LIFE might vary somewhat in spirit the challenges are the same – self mastery, service, perfection attainment personally and socially. That said, life on these worlds differ and as a result the experiential appreciation of God will vary slightly also. Hence, when compared to the dominant trend on the other ninety percent of planets, the Father would be understood in a different way on such worlds.

I remember once thinking that LIFE is a ‘controlled substance’. It is, without question, the most precious resource in the Universe of universes. The UB flatly contradicts much of modern philosophy and science, which probably contributes much to its slow uptake. The revelation teaches that Mind comes only from mind, energy comes only from energy, spirit from spirit, personality from personality and that in the Great Source all these phenomena are one. Life does not come from not life, mind does not emerge from not mind, energy is not created ex nihilo. So, though the argument may seem circular, life does not emerge from nothing – it emerges from something, from LIFE - it is through the auspices and agencies of Living Beings that it is established.

Having been once established those that brought it into being bear a responsibility, a divine duty, for that life. Such beings are answerable to those by whom they were entrusted to foster its potential. This inescapable duty becomes the inspirational source of the efforts to ‘save’ the wayward worlds, the divinely rooted urge to restore them to the divine family that brought them into being and to which they belong, and to re-establish them on the high and divine destiny that the Creator had ordained for them since before they were even formed.

Of all the worlds out there [and ten million spheres have been projected for habitation] few suffer the ravages of rebellion. Our world started out as a Decimal Planet, then it was cursed by the affliction of rebellion by the ‘Head of the Department’. This created considerable commotion in terms of competing regimes [loyalists and secessionists] and their conflicting agendas and goals, practically knocked our world back into the Stone Age, retarding and hampering social and cultural development. Efforts to get the world back on track were further derailed by the default of Adam and Eve, whose progeny, it was hoped, would eventually restore the world to harmony with the celestial administration and get our world back on track. These are major celestial car-crashes to try and recover from, such was the catastrophic nature of the calamities that befell us that it drew the attention of our Universe Sovereign and He courageously chose this sin stricken and wayward sphere as his home. It is certainly arguable, at least from a regime or administrative point of view, that the arrival of Jesus on this planet instituted an upheaval no less profound than either two previous defaults.

To revert to the medical device analogy, when there’s a major breach in quality all manufacturing is immediately suspended (depending on how serious the issue is) while the source of the breach is “root-caused”. During this phase the Quality Engineers endeavour to ‘scope’ out the extent of the issue. Everything is stopped. Everything is counted. Nothing moves. If deliveries leave the site they are recalled, or a detention order is issued to the receiving site. You will, no doubt, be familiar with the term Product Recall. These are issued when a breach in procedures occurs that could result in harm to consumers. It becomes, therefore, necessary to have consumers return the goods to the store and seek a refund. Until we can be certain of the extent of the issue nothing moves. These remind me of the protocols that came into play during the rebellion.

During a major event nothing comes onto the site or leaves it, and all communications are restricted and channelled through pre-approved lines. Rebellion, such as we have been subjected to, is astoundingly toxic. It represents a major breach in procedures, one that can have harmful life altering effects at best or soul destroying effects at worst. Consequently, safety protocols would necessitate the suspension of all traffic to and from the affected sites. One wonders if these protocols are what is behind the revelation that regular procedures regarding sleeping survivors were put on hold, procedures that prevented even Elijah and Moses from taking their rightful seat on the Mansion worlds – prior to the advent of Michael?

It is certainly arguable that one of the clearest pieces of evidence we have of the fact that our world has been caught in the cross-fire of a War-In-Heaven is in the astounding silence of space. We are receiving not one single signal that might indicate life on other worlds. On the surface, we appear to be alone and adrift, but those of us blessed with the gift of the revelation know that this is not true. We detect the comings and goings of high level staff who are eagerly working to bring things to a close, who are as distressed by the delays as anyone but who are bound to procedures – specifically those procedures through which the full, final, and complete redemption of the world will be effected. However, they will not yield to the temptation to deviate from the procedure - ‘even if it takes a million years’ to wind up the consequences.

On troubled worlds such as ours conventional universe wisdom can be unavailing. Here our divine overseers must implement experimental wisdom, apply policies and procedures not tried on many worlds. Consequently, new things can be learned here that cannot be learned elsewhere and that makes our tiny little sphere especially intriguing. It is also instructive that the author of paper 35 [one of the Chiefs of Archangels, no less] points out that our administrative troubles have been so profound as to transform our universe into one vast clinic. An interesting thing about this observation is that the Archangels are one of the few beings capable of communicating from our world. They form part of the divine administration whose duty it is to save our world, to eliminate the stain of rebellion and bring us back into communion with the spheres of light.

Consequently, our experience and appreciation of God is markedly different from the majority of the worlds out there. Being born on the wrong side of the cosmic tracks, as it were, we begin our cosmic adventure at what would seem a decided disadvantage. In many ways, the children of this world are born to a spiritual warzone – facing levels of poverty, desperation, and isolation that is in marked contrast with an average world. In a sense, we are like spiritual war orphans – cut off from, and deprived of the benefits of, sound direct celestial guidance. Now we face endless explosions of crisis and competing orders and conflicting priorities coming at us from every conceivable angle, disorienting, confusing and frightening us. Injustice, deception, and tragedy seem to proliferate. The corrupt seem to have the upper hand, and there appears to be no power on earth that can prevent them from enslaving the whole world. Finding God under such circumstances is quite the challenge. Consequently, the God we know and the God we need – is markedly different from the face with which He is more generally known throughout the galaxies. And those of us who succeed in finding the Creator under such difficult circumstances are, indeed, the Children of the Lesser Known God.

When our race on this troubled little sphere is run, the children of the far spreading household of Heaven will be intrigued and fascinated by our vision of the God who sustained us throughout these struggles. When our stories of salvation are heard on high His glory will be multiplied and amplified, as the universes learn that His light shines brightest in the darkest corners.

One that I find interesting, and feel speaks to the age: With God the Father, sonship is the great relationship. With God the Supreme, achievement is the prerequisite to status — one must do something as well as be something [115:0.1]. It seems to me that the children of the Age of the Woke are fixated with the being phase of reality and repudiate the merits of the doing phase. Martin Luther King Jnr. understood the importance of this dynamic when he said that he had a dream that one day his children ‘would be judged, not by the colour of their skin but, by the content of their character.’

I’ll never forget that line. As the years have passed I crafted a maxim about character: Character is what is left in the wake of the decisions that you make. Character, then, is a testament to your decisions and values. It is not fixed or set in stone. It can change as you change and grow, are inspired by higher values to make better decisions. As you grow, and mature, you discover new truths and values and adjust your settings accordingly – at least this is what you do if you are aspiring to be wise, if you aspire to the happy life. One cannot be happy and live out of harmony with truth, one can be in denial about this but there can be no abiding happiness with conformity with truth. And as your awareness and appreciation of truth grows and deepens and your endeavour to align yourself ever more perfectly with it, so too does the trajectory of your life arc in response.

When we place the content of character above the colour of skin [or any incidental factor which we inherit from nature] what we are saying is that we are defined by our values. It does not matter if you are black or white, it matters that you turn up on time for work, and when you are there that you do a good days work. It does not matter if you are Jewish or Christian, it matters that you turn up for your family. You are defined by what you do, not by genetic factors over which you have no control. Do you make a positive difference at work, home, school, or neighbourhood? Then that is admirable. It doesn’t matter what colour you are, it doesn’t matter what you like to do between the sheets, it matters that you can get a job done, that you can be relied upon.

These days we see these ridiculous spectacles of people introducing themselves by their “identity” – by the very things that they are not responsible for and that can tell absolutely nothing of value about them. You don’t achieve ‘blackness’ – how can you be proud of something that you didn’t have to work to accomplish? Being born black or gay is not a boast, it’s just a fact. How can you be proud of being Irish or American? Pride is the flower of achievement. Being tall, or blond, or having a big ass, is not an achievement. It required zero effort, this was just the hand you were dealt by the Cosmos. In this universe, it’s not the hand you were dealt that’s important but how you play it. A person might be Yellow and be an awful parent, a Muslim and a terrible neighbour, the important thing is not that they are Yellow or Muslim but that they are awful to their kids or neighbours. No sensible person could care less about what colour you are or the religion you were born into, but they are perfectly justified in caring how you might behave, or what your values might be.

If the Woke Brigade were to be truly consistent, and genuinely believe that all virtue consisted merely in being a thing then the things they do wouldn’t matter but that’s not what they truly believe. We know this because they are inclined to cherry pick specific ‘doings’ [accomplishments] and equating them with ‘beings’ [accidentals] such that “if that then this” – if white then you are an oppressor, if black you are oppressed.

It’s like with the push for ‘diversity’, it is as though you are not enough unless you are complemented by every other identity. This moronic form of thinking implicitly believes that everyone is inadequate, that no one is truly adequate, that all groups are inadequate because they are not truly ‘representative’ of the diversity of life. This is a lame ideology at best.

I have long pondered the fact that the book teaches that all specialised skill ultimately has its origins in one’s genes. Genetics determine how tall you are likely to be, how strong, what colour your eyes or skin will be, if your hair will be curly or straight, even your IQ. These traits are just what the Cosmos assigned to you. It is quite amusing to watch a person that is ‘proud’ of their IQ, like it was an accomplishment. Being proud of a high IQ is like being proud of being tall. Unless you used your tallness to benefit your community and family, unless you specifically parleyed these talents into an increase for yourself, your family, and your community, then you have nothing to be proud of. You could merely be arrogant, which is the shadow of pride.

Happiness is determined by accomplishments not accidents.

Accidentals can’t be changed, and they can tell us practically nothing of value about an individual or a group. Of one thing we can be sure, those vociferous few who refuse to recognise the importance of accomplishment over accidentals are running retrograde to the advance of civilisation and anyone supporting this lame ideology hamstrings the forward advance of civilisation.

Saturday, 21 May 2022

To Conquer and Conquering

Many years ago the Spirit of Truth/Holy Spirit came to me and established me in the Kingdom. The night that it fell upon me it illuminated my mind with many amazing things. One revelation communicated was the correlation between the fundamental dynamics of the living cell and the Trinity. A cell has 3 key elements: DNA, RNA, and Enzymes. In this moment of revelation I was taught to see DNA as reflective of the Father, that RNA reflects the Son, while the Enzymes reflect the action of the Infinite Spirit. Interestingly, the RNA communicates information from the DNA to the Enzymes which then builds as instructed. It certainly wouldn’t surprise believers to note there are many interesting scientific and spiritual correlations between the fundamentals of the living cell and the Trinity core of all reality. I always thought that this was a strange revelation to present. At the time I was knee deep in scripture and many of my revelations had a strong religious flavour to them which is why this seemed strikingly peculiar. However, in light of recent events, there may have been more to this.

Over the last while I’ve been seeing more and more about messenger RNA - mRNA - and I find it jarring because it links back so viscerally to that momentous night.

When I was being schooled in scripture by my hardcore Bible believing brother in Christ, there were a few things that stood out – one of which was the distortion of the gospel by Catholicism. My friend especially detested the concept of the Pope for establishing himself as a ‘Vicarious-Christi’ – an alternative Christ. From the Protestant, and most Christians perspective, there is only One mediator between Man and God and that is Christ Jesus, and I have often reflected on how Jesus is to us the Word of God, even as RNA is the Word of DNA [G,T,A,C].

The Protestant tradition regards anything that seeks to supplant the role of Jesus between us and the Father as Satanic [rightly so] and, it seems to me, that these alternative RNA devices are, in a sense, attempting to supplant or replace the Son but at a genetic level. In a sense, this mRNA would be like a ‘false son’ and given the deviation from the divine order this could have catastrophic implications for those who partake in it. It is difficult to see how this deviation from the fundamental dynamics of our genetic structure could have anything but calamitous outcomes. There can be only one true Word of God, in him is salvation and outside of him can no salvation be found. Consequently, I suspect that those who seek salvation through the vaccine will, in fact, be embracing doom.

It certainly looks like the vaccine is likely ramp up the function of the virus amplifying the fatalities associated with it one hundred fold during the next cold & flu season. This seems to put bones onto John’s point about the Horseman coming ‘to conquer and conquering’ – implying almost two phases, the first phase being the announcement of its coming and spread across the world and the second phase where the death promised will be realised.

SOURCE ARTICLE

This is a toxic system that destroys ecosystems, corrupts governments and legislators, weakens us to a state of craven dependency and fills our minds with paralysing visions of terror and fearful delusions. To this soulless system we are a means to an end and in this an end not of our own choosing. We are a resource to be used, managed and – above all – controlled; we are a number on a ledger, a unit of work, we feed it with our very lives - we are its food. We must stop supporting these toxic, corrupt, and corrupting systems, and start supporting better ones, or they will destroy every last one of us.

The Age of In-dependence [dependence upon the resources within] must be preceded by the discovery of the riches of ‘The Kingdom Within’: those riches born of the ever inspiring divine kingdom that exists within every single one of us. Those inspiring spiritual riches that will be illuminated by the spiritual truth that we are the temporal children of the Eternal God and the kingdom of possibilities within ourselves as communities, the spiritual family of God knowing Man serving divinely endowed and spiritually motivated beings. We are free to employ ‘external’ systems but we should not become dependent upon them. We should, indeed, share with our fellows from the abundance we acquire from ‘within’ [within ourselves as individuals and ourselves as groups] but we should always remain mindful that ‘it is more blessed to give than to receive,’ that when we receive we are – far too often – left obligated, a tactic employed by Big Pharma when giving gifts/inducements to universities, health systems, and governments.

Presently, corporations are the dominant species, the dinosaurs, of the current age. They are like the Hydra of legend: they have many heads, one in Tokyo, Paris, New York, London and Hong Kong, and many crushing feet in the developing nations: Africa, South China, India, Bangladesh, South America. Their tentacles envelop the globe, reaching into every home. Every medicine chest, every piece of fibre you wear and every tool you use, has been touched by them.

At present our social systems foster dependence. Over time our dependency has grown to such an extent that we are the cultural equivalent of a depraved, chronic addict. A chronic addict thinks nothing of violence, thievery, deception and untold other shameless and nameless acts in order to feed their habit. If an addict would think nothing of robbing loved ones, Big Oil and Pharma think nothing of intimidating nations and plundering their resources, destroying communities, environments, toppling governments, corrupting legislators and are generally ready to do anything in order to acquire profit. Indeed, the CEO that fails to maximise profit can be ejected from their position.

In the midst of all this are the citizenry, like the children of chronic addicts. Their parents are utterly selfish and care not one whit for them. If the children do not act to protect themselves against the unbridled lusts of their caregivers they will be destroyed. Indeed, the whole house will be burned down over their heads.

It’s a story as old as time itself, over time the nurturing father loses his way and falls into corruption and hell and the child must save him. The children, the citizens, of a Nation do not hate her. She may be a corrupt mother but she is still their mother. Her sons burn to free her from those who would keep her in bondage, force her and her children into prostitution, violence, and degeneracy.

There is a lesson to be learned from these stories, a guiding moral, that our civilisations have failed to weave into the fabric of their culture. When those with power put self interest ahead of the welfare of the group, when the parent puts the gratification of personal desires ahead of the moral claims of fostering the wellbeing of the whole family, when those with power fail to appreciate the importance of dignity and self-respect and so drag the community down into degeneracy and shame, when the weak, degenerate, and venal are allowed to squander the resources of the family then are the children of that nation or that family forced to live in squalor and filth.

A society that fails to ensure that only its wisest and most noble are allowed near the reins of power will, over time, guarantee the progressive disenfranchisement of its people. A society that fails to consciously promote and exalt the acquisition of wisdom as the first duty of every citizen, is then – by omission – covertly exalting foolishness and folly and is sure to reap the harvest of sorrow and heartache that ever follows in the wake of these evils. A society that fails to consciously glorify the ideals of service to ones fellows – of so living as to enhance the world, is unconsciously promoting selfishness and self aggrandizement and with it storing up for future generations unimaginable tragedy and suffering.

Such a state of affairs can only continue so long as the children see themselves as dependant upon their corrupt caretakers. The truly sick minded sincerely endeavour to keep their children enslaved through an evil concoction of lies, terror, and cruelty. However, once the children wake up, once they see through the lies and recognise the truth, once they become numb to the terror and fear loses its grip of their imagination, once the limits of pain have been found then their caregivers lose their power over them. Then they, like Dorothy in Oz, discover that they had the power they needed to achieve personal happiness all along and that no one ever had the ability to take it from them without their consent. Once they realise that they are the ones with the power, that it is their corrupt parents who are utterly dependent on them then it is they that can seize control and get their house in order.

The ideals of one generation determine the direction of following generations. To lose sight of one’s ideals is to descend into spiritual darkness. As a disoriented man becomes quickly lost, so too do men’s lives quickly unravel when they’ve lost sight of their ideals, this is as true for the nation as it is for the individual – even for an entire planet.

The prophet Yuri Bezmenov forewarned the west of the danger of the ‘demoralisation of a generation’. The moral of a story is the jewel of wisdom, the guiding principle, that can be derived from it. The spiritual storehouse of nations and of men are their religions and the philosophies, destroy these and you blind men and nations and such is the momentum of history that without these civilisations will, very quickly, unravel.

In these days of profound spiritual darkness, as civilisation seems to be coming apart at the seams, we need the illumination of spiritual ideals, the guidance afforded by moral principles, and consolations of sound cosmic philosophy as probably never before in human history. The Master promised, ‘Seek and you will find’, you just need faith. The only caveat that I would add to that is: be careful what you seek, not everything the heart desires adds value.

Therefore, in the words of the prophets of old:

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding... Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. For wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her…Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honour. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.

'Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world!' Jn. 16:33

Economically speaking, the West occupies a prosperous First World state. However, spiritually speaking, it languishes in Third World squalor. The spiritual poverty of the West, more specifically western Christendom, is at the root of much of the worlds suffering. The challenge lies then not so much in the fact that the West dominates the world's purse as in the fact that her children are still charmed by the lure of 'shiny things,' the pursuit of materialistic goals, to the exclusion of other, more noble aspirations eg.: the riches inherent in actualising the divine self. Its children are, in real terms, still quite immature. And so it is that, 'Only when man has become sufficiently disillusioned by the sorrowful disappointments attendant upon the foolish and deceptive pursuits of selfishness, and subsequent to the discovery of the barrenness of formalized religion, will he be disposed to turn wholeheartedly to the gospel of the kingdom, the religion of Jesus of Nazareth.'i

True poverty is not simply a case of empty pockets but a heart empty of spiritual ideals, values, dreams and vision, a life bereft of values, meaning and purpose.

The Christian scriptures teaches 'out of the heart come the issues of life, murder, theft, adultery' Mat. 15:19 or 'as a man thinketh in his heart so is he' Prov. 23:7. The social and cultural realities of this world are reflections of our inner realities. Culture, in all its multitudinous hues – dark or delightful, is simply the shadow cast by the human heart. Consequently, all lasting transformation must occur on an inner level and all such transformations are a matter of personal attainment, personal growth – spiritual growth. Any effort not specifically focused on facilitating personal growth, spiritual regeneration and inner transformation, is an effort focused on the effect and not the cause of our social ills; it is to attack the branch yet leave the root untouchedii. It was for this reason that Jesus enjoined his followers to pray that God 'create in me a clean heart.' As a result of these insights it can be seen that the first goal of any transformational effort should begin with education, spiritual education - education on ideals and idealism, and the nobility of service.

The ills that plague the nations of the Third World will never be solved with mere money. Were we to hand over a trillion dollars to uneducated peoples, the money would be squandered as a direct result of the fact that their cultural experience would unlikely have furnished them with the intellectual tools required to manage such a resource nor would they likely have acquired the skills of personal restraint and self-discipline necessary to manage such wealth. Merely throwing money at a problem, without adequate vision and support, would not only be of no practical use, it would undoubtedly make things worse. It might be wise to make note that though the West presently dominates this wealth it certainly has a ways to go in the wise and magnanimous management of it.

Challenging the oppressive structures of this world, while significant, is not the 'final solution' to the ills that assail us. Utopian civil structures demand first an ideal type of citizen; only thereafter may such illuminated individuals safely employ the civil structures and social institutions that govern such a society. Unless the lives and the action/decisions of the citizens of any hypothesised Utopian state are founded upon some transcendent Ideal then the structures are of no import. Corruption is a cancer to any system but it begins in the human heart. Consequently, perfect social systems without similarly perfection oriented individuals are doomed. Changing the system, without also inculcating the ideals of perfection within the cultural experience of that society's same citizens would be akin to putting a plaster on a bomb. Such social shortsightedness can only lead to tragedy on an epic scale. This is the insight alluded to within Jesus' parable of the Foolish Builders, Matthew 7:24-27. Without sound foundations, no project can stand the test of time. Our greatest foe is never the cultural milieu and structures into which we are born but the evil tendencies that ever spring from the soil of the imperfect corrupt human heart.

Similar views have been expressed by Daniel G. Groody, in an essay of his to be found in the journal Theological Studies, Vol. 62, No. 2., 2008; 'Globalizing solidarity: Christian anthropology and the challenge of human liberation.' He notes that 'to argue in favor of the strengths of the free market and material prosperity without reference to the weaknesses of human nature is to court moral and social disaster because it unravels the bonds that unite us as a human family.'iii Pointing out that:

'Without an adequate vision of human life, it is easy to lose sight of our interconnection with each other and become vulnerable to an inner slavery that not only ignores human need but even rewards human greed. Structural reform is certainly needed, but politics and economics alone are insufficient to bring about the renewal and reordering of society. Nor can they map out the contours of a liberating human anthropology. Fundamental structural reform must be accompanied by a more fundamental inner change that originates in the human heart.iv

While the value of the observations made by Liberation Theologies that 'many of the problems and disorders of the modern world... have their roots in structural and systemic issues that create and perpetuate global injustices,'v cannot be discounted, Groody is concerned that the deeper issues at hand have gone relatively unexplored. Pointing out that 'these disorders on a more fundamental level are related to what happens within people.'vi Stressing that, 'Our inability to deliver ourselves from inner discord not only contributes to global disorder but also distorts our understanding of how we come to realize our identity as human beings. This problem, at root, is not simply a political, economic, or social one but a spiritual one.' vii

Thus can we more clearly appreciate the depth of insight implicit in the teachings of Jesus. When he declares, 'the kingdom is within' – it wasn't simply a figurative statement. By giving preeminence to inner realities, he was laying emphasis on the fact that it is our hopes and dreams or lack of them, our passions and ambitions idealistic or craven, above all – our loving devotion to one another or its absence, that shapes our realities; while circumstances merely offer the context for their extemporisation.

'Fear not little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.' Luke 12:32

The radical nature of the Gospel Jesus lived and died preaching, is – to a degree – eclipsed by the tremendous social transformations that have been realised in His name since last he walked the earth. His prayer was always that all his followers, both present and to come, should be one – that they enjoy the same unity and communion that he shares with the Father among each other and with the Father, Jn 17: 20 - 22 . This facet of his teachings was taken up by Paul in Galatians 3:28 when he declared that: 'There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.' This teaching is implicitly opposed to any forms of oppression, any form of inequality, and challenges his followers to establish a radical equality, among one another and throughout the world. However, it should be borne in mind that the Master understood the delusion of 'equity' for he pointed out that 'the poor ye shall always have with ye.'

It should be realised that the prayer's Jesus uttered have a formative influence on this world and have not gone unanswered. In the eyes of the Eternal Father the unity for which His Son so ardently prayed, and died to establish, has already been granted and so already 'IS', at least in terms of the experiential consciousness of Deity. We, however, occupy a temporal frame of reference and therefore consciously experience it as a relatively endless series of transformations. Consequently, those of us that strive to bring about the unity of the world and that endeavour to vanquish oppression KNOW that the long sought after day will come. We know that the days of darkness and struggle are numbered and can draw succor from that; while concurrently strength can drawn from the truth that every effort, weak or strong, every success or failure, brings the day of victory over oppressive forms that bit closer.

It was during that fateful dialogue with Peter that Jesus made another instructive statement. Having finally led his apostle's to the point where they were now capable of recognising his true identity, he then said that he would commit to their keeping the 'keys of the kingdom'. Thereby establishing the Christian community as an instrument of G*d on earth. It is their G*d given right to organise themselves as they see fit, and according to purposes envisioned by themselves, that is perhaps their greatest strength. It is this 'spirit led' community that is thus endowed with the necessary wisdom, personal fortitude, and devoted commitment to kin-dom values that is destined to bring the world into balance.

This community can, has, and will continue to grow and nothing can stop it, not 'all the forces of evil' nor 'the hosts of sin'.

From this study it should be plain that the concept of kingdom as taught by Jesus sought to co-ordinate many dynamic realities. While it is significant that many of the metaphors that Jesus used to exemplify the nature of the kingdom shared a common element, namely 'growth', it should be pointed out that the multifaceted nature of the expositions of Jesus regarding this subject served to highlight the many varying dimensions of kingdom, thus offsetting any inclination to limit conceptual range – while at the same time facilitating the elucidation of some of the more instructive elements. However, the repeated references to 'growth' indicates that Jesus envisioned the kin-dom growing, much as a seed will through the seasons, until the time of the harvest. Harvest, in the context outlined in this essay, can be nothing other than the day referenced in the words uttered by the prophets Jeremiah and Isaiah, 'and they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD. Jer. 31: 34. "And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nations shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." Is. 2:4

Jesus was introducing humanity to eternity and to the means of engaging with it in time, as has been established by the Source of Time and Eternity, Deity, i.e.: the will of God, the mechanism through which the children of time find their way into the presence of the Eternal and the means whereby the Eternal can both commune with and positively guide the children of time. It was by means of commitment to the doing of God's will that Jesus was empowered to 'overcome the world' and thus if his followers similarly wish to 'overcome the world' then to them Jesus has only one thing to say:

If you dare to believe in me and wholeheartedly proceed to follow after me, you shall most certainly by so doing enter upon the sure pathway to trouble. I do not promise to deliver you from the waters of adversity, but I do promise to go with you through all of them.viii

i The Urantia Book 195:9.7

iiThis idea is found as theme within the works of the author James Allen, undoubtedly among many others. The self deceived heart may endeavour to make its foul intentions acceptable by wrapping them up in the righteousness of scripture but excrement wrapped in gold is still excrement. To dress one’s evil intentions up in the words of scripture is to come as a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The shallow are fooled by such pretence; are content with the surface of things, with the appearance of wealth, nobility, culture, education, but never dare to venture below the surface. They clamour for conformity and revile the individual, revile the prophets that dare to pierce the façade and expose the rottenness within. The roots of war are to be found in the bestial and self deceived human heart. Have you ever noticed how those who are quick to violence are even quicker to justify themselves and their actions? Fast, indeed, is the fist but faster still is the hate filled heart. But pause for a moment and consider deeply what they say and soon you will discern the disingenuous nature of their words and the wretched stench of hypocrisy. Is there not something to be learned from the fact that those who love violence will act on the slightest excuse, while those that love peace can find nothing that will justify violence against a brother?

Violence, be it between brothers or nations, is always about domination and control – the very antithesis of the ideals of spiritual living which are service and love. The waging of war then, being rooted in the flesh, can never be a service to God [who is spirit] it is, moreover the waging of grievous sin.

The call to WAR is always subterfuge; it is, without exception, a lie. No one would send their children off to war if they knew the real reasons behind them. War is merely a game played by the super rich, a game which reduces our homes and cities to ash and in which our children’s lives are thrown out like chips on a poker table. The great irony is that real, behind-the-scenes, players never get harmed, they just get richer.

As the man that is given to violence readily deceives himself that his actions are righteous, even so do the leaders of nations summon their army of soothsayers [the media] and ‘prophets-for-hire’ [experts] to lead the nation’s children into war. So strong is the spell cast by these fiends that that the nation’s children volunteer to lay down their lives for “this noble cause” and when these children return home – dead, or worse than dead, wrapped in a flag their parents weep proudly at the nobility of their sacrifice, all the while blind to the real tragedy – that they died, and continue to die, for nothing more noble than ensuring rich men can have a bigger pools and more private jets. They have become the unwitting instruments of thieves and long distance murderers. The cognitive dissonance generated by this calumny is profound. Is it any wonder that people have a hard time accepting truth when it is so at variance with the vision they hold dear to their hearts, when it reveals them to be worse than fools? Who has the stomach for that?

These so-called leaders are creatures of negotiable virtue; moral chameleons, appearing as creatures of light when they walk among the noble and as creatures of night when among the children of the shadows. They know well that we would not send our children to die in the service of ignoble men – to die so that these soulless, black hearted, wretched excuses for humanity can attempt to fill their bottomless pockets but there’s a lot, an awful lot, of money to be made. They have no compunctions whatsoever about trading blood for diamonds, gold, land, and oil…well, once it’s not their blood that gets spilled. But when you already own the media and the government and you are safely ensconced behind an impenetrable wall of money and power you need not worry too much about what people think. After all, you have enough money to make sure people [the vast majority of them anyway] think what you want them to think.

For the Hawks of War FEAR is everything. It is for this reason that the media constantly fosters anxiety; a couple of well placed bangs and you can be reasonably assured that the sheep will race off in the desired direction.

However, the Prophets-for-Higher – the prophets of peace, equality, justice, fairness, integrity, honesty, of social responsibility and service, who are the very destroyers of fear are a source of endless torment for the hawks. The Prophets-for-Higher, the passionate advocates of higher and better ways, always end up condemning and exposing the weakness of the version of reality being peddled by the hawks. They are tirelessly dedicated to highlighting the bankruptcy of the current system and the insanity of attempting to maintain such doomed systems, even going so far as to proclaim that better ways are not only preferable but actually possible and, in the long run, far less costly! The prophets come to a weary, desperate, and fearful generation preaching words of hope, consolation, and healing and for this service they are castigated, vilified, ridiculed, beaten, imprisoned, tortured, and murdered. The hawks are jealous gods.

Indeed, what could be worse for the hawks of war than for the people to become truly enamoured with the idea that we are one family on one earth and that we should love and care for one another and that we should establish systems that foster such ideals?

For the hawks FEAR is the only reality.

They cling to FEAR as though it were life itself, as though it were salvation. To reject or discountenance it is heresy, insanity, even suicide! Their world cannot exist without it and that is why the elimination of fear is the first step to a better world. Indeed, the first duty of all spiritual leaders should be to liberate their fellows from the fetters of fear; to teach people not to be afraid, loose them from the shackles of fear and establish them on the path to liberty which is faith, for a better world is not possible without faith.

When our choices are based on fear we are the bondservants of fear [the flesh] and become locked in a cycle of Doom and Destruction. When we dare to make the choice of faith [become enthused by a vision of a better world] we affirm for the world our liberty from the shackles of fear and establish ourselves on the way of Hope and Healing.

When the Prophets-for-Higher come the hawks rush to rattle the cages and attempt to set the world on edge – filling it with fear: white afraid of black, black afraid of white, old fearful of the young, the young contemptible of the old, the wealthy in dread of the great unwashed, the great unwashed resentful of the wealthy. The world becomes infused with mistrust, suspicion, and paranoia. Trust no one, they say, except US. They, the very one’s that have created, fostered, and promoted this constant state of fearful anxiety, claim to know the way to brighter and better tomorrows. All our woes, they say, have their roots in X [insert appropriate outsider ‘HERE’]. Destroy X, it is claimed, and our troubles will melt away. Violence and war, these are the instruments wherewith we shall build enduring peace!

The Prince of Peace spoke of these fools before and named their sin: “They say that which is good but they do it not!” and warned us not to pattern after their works, lest we follow them into the pit [imagine the fate of Israel at the hands of the Romans but on a global scale].

The Prince of Peace came proclaiming peace on earth and good will toward all men and preaching the glad tidings that we are all one family, the children of the Almighty One, and that the rule of this family is simple: Love.

Indeed, what could be worse for the hawks of war than for the people to become truly enamoured with the idea that we are one family on one earth and that we should love and care for one another and even that we should establish systems that foster and promote such ideals? What could be worse for the hawks than for the people to discover that fear is an illusion which robs them of peace, joy, and hope and that peace, joy, and hope were within easy reach through faith, fellowship, and service?

The spiritual ideals of the divine family can illuminate a better way for us. Love is the law of the divine Kin-Dom and service is its lifeblood. In the ideal family the strong protect and nurture the vulnerable, and abundance is used to nourish the whole family, not just the chosen few. Those that cannot abide by such ideals are little better than beasts, craving a world where savagery is rewarded and the strong are allowed to prey upon the vulnerable.

Between the Savage and the Sage there lies a long road, from the darkness of ignorance, fear, control, and domination to the light of wisdom, faith, love, and service. What’s it going to be? Will we yield to fear and the darkness within or will we take up faith and follow the light of a better way, a better world?

The teaching that Jesus was in some way hostile to the traditions of his people is erroneous. Jesus had sacrificed all to focus on and highlight certain essential spiritual truth. The first and foremost of these truths was to relate to each person the experience of knowing God – ‘You that have seen me have seen the Father’; and secondly to relate the concept-idea and, more importantly, to somehow facilitate the conscious realisation of the experience of knowing, personally, that ‘God is your Father.’ Indeed, he asked that when we speak to God we should call him ‘Abba.’

While this is something I had read countless times, I never really appreciated its spiritual value until one fine day as I sat by a swimming pool in Israel. I remember children were playing and splashing, as parents soaked in the warm rays of the Mediterranean sun. At one point a little girl came screeching passed, being chased by her brother; as she ran she shouted excitedly, ‘Abba, Abba, Abba!’ managing, at last, to leap into the safety of her father’s arms, where she wriggled in gleeful delight that she had escaped the clutches of her villainous brother. That single moment illuminated, for me, more of Jesus’ spiritual intent than one hundred scholarly works ever did.

Jesus invites us to share in this consciousness of the Fatherhood of God, that is the Kin-dom; that sense of sure safety; the open and welcome arms and the courage those arms and that relationship instils. Jesus asked that we endeavour to be possessed of childlike faith; that we be willing to take that faith leap into the loving arms of our waiting spiritual Father and, through that faith discover for ourselves and within ourselves the experience of spiritual assurance that communicates to your soul that abiding peace which surpasses all understanding; that sense that no real harm can ever befall you; that you have been found by the Father and that he will never let you go; that you are fully and finally secure in his arms and free from fear. Liberty indeed!

Jesus said, ‘I leave you peace; my peace I give you.’ The people of the world are limited in what and how much they can give to others but the peace that Jesus gives is limited only by your capacity to receive. Thus, as you grow in grace and wisdom, as the rivers of faith and love flow through the chambers of your heart it is by this spiritual force that those very chambers are widened so that you can receive more and your life is blessed with spiritual abundance.

Having found the Kin-dom, it is only natural to want to share the joy born of that sense of safety and security. Knowing such joy you will naturally and freely reach out to your fellows, especially those that are harassed by fear and lost in spiritual darkness. You will never want to add to their burden of troubles and endeavour always to increase their quotient of happiness. This tender and passionate love for one’s fellows and the service it inspires authenticates the truth that you have found the Kin-dom and have truly entered therein. This is the love that declares to all the world that you are a disciple of the Master, that you are a faith filled, love inspired child of God, that knows – without a shadow of a doubt – that when you call ‘Abba!’ your cry is heard and responded to instantly.

The Good Samaritan

The Good Samaritan

Ecumenism seeks to restore wholeness to the family Jesus’ followers, a family that appears to be divided over issues of doctrine. For me the Kin-dom is founded upon the personal spiritual experience of recognising the Fatherhood of God and its correlated truth the Brotherhood of Man or, simpler, your personal experience of the love of God and your love for God. The foundation of the identity of the followers of Jesus is the personal experienceof the love for and faith in the Father as reveal in the life and teachings of the Son and not upon the assertion of provisional assent to some system of dogmas or doctrines. Such an experience may inspire dogma, doctrine, art, prayer, worship, service, etc. but these are consequences not causes, they are the shadows not the substance. Any attempt to use shadows as a foundation is doomed to failure.

So, how can the Good Samaritan help? Can he carry us out of the darkness of the shadows of mere belief (provisional assent) and into the healing hostel of the personal experience of spiritual truth and divine realities? Tall order, I know, but let’s see.

It’s hard for us to appreciate the audacity of Jesus in making a Samaritan the hero in a story being told to Palestinian Jews two thousand years ago. When we hear this story today it appears sweet but when first it was heard it was a shocking and unsettling challenge to the prejudice and hypocrisy of his people! Jesus chose this type of individual as a worthy vehicle to exemplify the spirit of the Kin-dom. Were he in Ireland today he might well make a Traveller the main character or a Transgender person. If he was in China maybe he’d be a Human Rights Lawyer. If he was in America there’s a chanced he’d be an African-American Muslim.

There are many significant features to this story. At that time Samaritans were held in lower esteem than even the Romans. They were despised by the Jews. Not only were the Samaritans regarded as racially inferior, they also practiced a different religion to the Jews – a fact even Jesus acknowledged when speaking to the woman by the well. Thus, Jesus selected a man from a despised minority, one that was not even a Hebrew, and made him the primary instrument in one of his most famous parables.

The nature of Parable is also significant to our enterprise. The purpose of a parable is not to communicate some literal fact but to convey a spiritual (inspirational) truth. Jesus was not interested in the beliefs to which this man subscribed, it was the spirit of his life that he commended, the values inspired him, and the ideals he held that shaped his life. Jesus asked his hearer’s to look passed all that was objectionable: his minority status, the historical grievances between the Jews and the Samaritans, the fact of his different and supposedly inferior religion and perceive the spirit wherewith this child of God lived his life.

The Samaritans heart reached out passed all objections and questions about the man’s identity, passed wondering if he was rich or poor, Jew or gentile, deserving or undeserving, saw a man in need and took upon himself the responsibility of ensuring that this man was nursed back to health. This quality is as admirable now as it was then and it is to Masters’ credit that he concocted a story that has lost none of its sweetness, or its power to illuminate, even after two thousand years. It wasn’t this man’s religion that made him a beautiful portrayal of the spirit of the Kin-dom. If anything, traditional loyalties would have prejudiced him. Had he obeyed the dictates of tradition and custom, as the others had done, he would have amounted to little more than a commendable hypocrite. It was the fact that he courageously and quietly broke through all these confines to reach out to someone in need. In this parable Jesus pierced through all objectionable incidentals and revealed the child of God beneath and in so doing he challenges us to challenge our own prejudice or, at the very least, to be aware of them and recognise that these can become spiritual prisons.

There are tremendous truths enfolded in parables and when telling them Jesus was often heard to cry, ‘Let you that have the eyes to see – see, and you that have the ears to hear – hear!’ His parables and method of teaching played upon a favourite spiritual principle of his, ‘Seek and you will find.’ He understood that if someone is truly dedicated to finding truth then they most certainly would but, equally, if they were equally determined to NOTfind truth then they most certainly would not; if they were determined to find that which would justify their own bias and prejudice they would find it. TRUTH is more than figuratively in the eye of the beholder. Dogma and doctrine, then, are useless to one that is dedicated to not finding truth and are unnecessary to one who is. Consequently, we find that those that seek to find a cause for offense do indeed find offense. While, conversely, those that seek cause to join hands – find it.

Over and over, throughout the Masters life, he laboured to teach us that we are not defiled by what enters through the eyes, ears, and mouth and, that being the case, neither can we be sanctified by what enters through the eyes, ears, and mouth. Sanctification or desecration comes from the heart. It was for this reason he looked with favour upon the prayer, ‘Create in me a clean heart, oh Lord!’ why Paul, and others, spoke about the regenerative work of the indwelling spirit. This emphasis on SPIRIT, in terms of the indwelling spirit, the inner guide that leads the way for every truth seeking child of God, and the Almighty Spirit that is shaping the destiny of the Universe, were fundamental to the teachings of Jesus.

When it came to prayer he taught that the Father was focused on the intention (spirit) not the words. Which is just as well really, given that the carpenter from Nazareth never spoke a word of English in his entire life and I doubt that situation has changed much in the last two thousand years. Thus the Spirit God reacts to the spirit content of your prayer and even your life. This being the case, that the spirit (the substance) is supreme over the letter (the cultural form), can it be that dogma, doctrine, tradition is somehow higher than the spirit that inspired it? Hardly, these are the effects, not the cause; the shadow, not the object. The substance of any prayer, parable, doctrine or dogma, lies with the spirit that inspired it and not in the letter wherewith it was constructed. Jesus always taught that spiritual realities are supreme over material one’s; that matter relates to spirit similar to how effects relate to cause. It was for this reason that he admonished us to be mindful of the desires we nurtured in our hearts, for of such come the issues of life.

The source of division amongst the grand family of the followers of Jesus probably lies more in the damaged, fractured and fragmented human heart than in doctrine and dogma. Like the Apostles, we are brothers, but we constantly bicker over who will be greatest in the Kin-dom. By succumbing to the delusion that we are somehow better than our brothers, more holy, closer to God, more fully in the Kin-dom, more authentic, more sincere, more loyal to the ideals and values of the gospel, means we have lost our spiritual way. Such is Pharisee Talk, ego, vanity and arrogance creating the spiritual stumbling blocks of prejudice, hypocrisy and self-righteousness, keeping us blind to the fact that our real purpose is to serve one another as friends and brothers and not to seek to lord it over one another as the heathen do. But to see your self (your church) as nothing and others as higher and more deserving, to be humble, sincere and service oriented, that would be more in keeping with the Kin-dom values taught by the Master.

I’d imagine few things make Heaven wince quite like an arrogant Church. Pride goes before a fall and perhaps this is why our Church now appears as one bloodied and bruised, naked and discarded on the roadside, like one whom passers-by step gingerly around in order to avoid. Could the Good Samaritan save it from this sorry plight?
